Greetings and Welcome to a new edition of my "Who Would Win" Series and it is going to be Wonder Woman from DC comics vs Captain Marvel from, well, Marvel.
For this match up, I will use previous match ups involving both Wonder Woman and Captain Marvel as the main chunk of info. Considering that all the info I have made from that point on really hasn't changed drastically over the course of a couple of months. Both Wonder Woman and Captain Marvel will also be composited, I will include feats from the Films, TV shows and of course, the Comics.
The most significant part to remember is that I will use the most popular version of Captain Marvel, who is Carol Danvers. Likewise, Diana Prince will be Wonder Woman (Yes, there are several characters who once took the mantle of "Wonder Woman") And she will be given virtually the same amount of weapons, stat levels and her abilities like she had in my "Wonder Woman vs Bayonetta" blog.
Of course, I will do a rundown on the stats, weaponry, skills, abilities, feats, weaknesses and finally, who I personally believe will win this match up.
So, without further ado, let's begin
Wonder Woman
Diana Prince, also known as Wonder Woman to the world, is an amazonian warrior princess who was sculpted by clay from her mother Hippolyta and brought to life by Zeus. She was raised in Themyscira, an ancient land that is populated entirely by Amazons. Diana was trained in all forms of combat during her time in Themyscira and eventually became the champion of the amazons after winning a tournament to become the Ambassador to Man's World, also known as, The World outside of Themyscira. Upon entering this world, Diana has vowed to protect Earth with peace and justice towards the innocent. Since then she has taken on countless enemies over the course of her lifetime, ranging from armies led by Ares the God of War, facing the ruthless Cheetah, defeating Gods that threatened the universe and joining the Justice League. Eventually, after defeating Ares, Diana herself became the Goddess of War and continues her path of making the world a better place.
That is a brief backstory for Wonder Woman. Now lets see what she can do.
Strength
It comes to no surprise that Wonder Woman is one of DC's strongest characters. Not only does she surpass characters who can casually break planets, she is considered to be one of the strongest members of the Justice League, with only Superman, Shazam and Martian Manhunter surpassing her in terms of raw strength. Some of Wonder Woman's strength feats are:
- Held back sword swings from Ares
- As a toddler, Diana can crush meteors
- Helped pull the Earth with Martian Manhunter and Superman
- Can block attacks from the likes of Superman, Shazam, Martian Manhunter and Doomsday.
- Punched Ares back with only her fists
- Kicks Superman so hard he was sent flying backwards
- Forced Shazam to submit to her and say the magic word to revert to Billy Batson
- Helped Superman lift the Spectre. The Spectre's weight is said to be limitless. This puts Wonder Woman with limitless strength
- Has broken Green Lantern constructs. For reference, the Constructs are durable enough to tank Superman's attacks, which are Solar System Level in terms of power
- Cracked Doomsday's skin with her shield. Doomsday tanks punches from Superman on a regular basis
Diana cracking Doomsday's Indestructible Skin with her Shield
Speed
Aside from Diana's already legendary strength level, she is also an extremely fast combatant. Here are some of her best feats for speed:
Diana blocking multiple Godshards at once |
- Reacted to The Flash's movements.
- Has tagged Zoom, who is one of the fastest characters in DC
- Caught Zoom while he was ahead of her in time
- Blocked God Shards that were coming towards her from every corner of the universe
- Can match Superman's flight speed, oh yeah Wonder Woman can fly!!!
- Superman said Wonder Woman is faster than him in terms of combat speed. Superman's combat speed surpasses the likes of Martian Manhunter, who punches at FTL to Massive FTL speeds
- Can block Omega Beams by Darkseid. Darkseid's Omega Beams can tag the Flash even when he is at full speed
- Escaped the Speedforce
Durability
Another one of Diana's legendary stats involve her durability. She is one of the most difficult characters in DC to put down for good. Here are some of her amazing feats:
- Tanked blows from the likes of Superman, The Flash, Martian Manhunter, Shazam, Darkseid, Doomsday, Lex Luthor, Ares, Cheetah and Supergirl.
- Had her arms twisted by Superman, Diana beat Superman in the same fight.
- Survived Darkseid's Omega Beams
- Survived a clobbering by Doomsday, Doomsday killed Superman without kryptonite
- Can tank a full on Rocket to the face and not be phased by it.
- Was pushed through planets by Superman.
- Survived a black hole numerous times
Skills
Diana is considered by Batman to be the best fighter in the universe. This is a very strong claim for Diana, since the DC universe also includes Lady Shiva, Deathstroke, Batman himself and Superman, all of whom are legendary fighters
Weapons
As amazing of a hero Diana is, she is not without her most iconic weapons. These weapons are forged by Hephaestus, the God of Smiting. Diana comes into battle with:
The Sword of Hephaestus: Wonder Woman's sword that cuts everything. Even Superman said the sword can kill him. It is worth noting that the Sword itself can split atoms with just a graze.
The Lasso of Truth: Diana's signature weapon used for both offense and defense. She can also use it to capture foes and compel them to tell the truth. It is almost impossible to escape from the Lasso.
The Amazonian Shield. The Shield is virtually indestructible. It took blows from Superman, Doomsday and Ares in combat. It is also used both offensively and defensively. Diana can even throw this shield and it does come back to her if given the chance to do so.
The Bracelets of Submission: These Bracelets, like the Amazonian Shield, are indestructible. In fact, they are one of the very few items in the DC universe to be completely unphased by Darkseid's Omega Beams. It is also worth noting that if Diana clashes these bracelets together in a cross guard, she will emit a defensive barrier that is strong enough to tank punches from Superman, Doomsday and even Darkseid
Wonder Woman Clashing the Bracelets of Submission. |
Tiara: Diana's headpiece that can also be used as a ranged weapon. This Tiara is sharp enough to cut Superman
Sandals of Hermes: These Sandal give Diana increased speed and flight.
Amazonian Bow: Wonder Woman sometimes uses a bow for long ranged combat.
Invisible Jet
Diana also, I kid you not, uses an Invisible Jet to travel at large distances. This jet is quite crazy, since it doesn't provide Diana any stealth advantage because, well, the jet itself is invisible but clearly, Diana can be seen anyway XD!!!!!!!
Berseker Rage
Due to the amount of divinity infused into her to bring her life, Diana is basically a goddess and if Wonder Woman removes her bracelets, she will unleash her full potential known as True Divine Nature
In this state, Diana has vastly increased stats. And is able to defeat the First Born, A monstrous being capable of destroying the Underworld. Another plain of existence
As the God of War after slaying Ares, Diana has control of Ares’ abilities, which she primarily uses for summoning purposes. She can summon lighting, summon an energy spear and even energy projectiles. She can also summon an army of soldiers to fight alongside her.
Feats and Accomplishments
With a list of feats that rivals the amount of pages from a single Goosebumps book, Wonder Woman has accomplished legendary feats that showcase just how much of a powerhouse she is. Here is a handful of feats that make Wonder Woman truly "Wonderful" (No pun intended XD!!!)
- Has officially, and cleanly, and efficiently, defeated Superman not once, not twice, but more than five times. Most of their encounters have Superman reach his maximum potential.
- Defeated and killed Doomsday. Doomsday is an unstoppable monster of godlike proportions who actually killed Superman using his bare hands without the use of Kryptonite and Magic
- Defeated Shazam, who is equal to Superman in terms of power level.
- Defeated Ares, the God of War, who can go into a more powerful form, and gradually gets bigger, and what is scary, he is comparable to the size of the Promethean Giants, who's hands are the size of the Solar System
- Has defeated Cheetah on a regular basis, who had all the advantages to kill Wonder Woman yet she never quite got her wish of killing her XD!!!
- Has caught Zoom, who was ahead of her in time while being blind.
- Fought battles for 3000 years. This makes her even older than Batman by thirty centuries XD!!!
- Helped the Justice League defeat Darkseid once and for all
- Is my all time favorite Superhero excluding the Powerpuff Girls
- Portrayed by Gal Gadot and Lynda Carter.
Weaknesses
Neron impaling Diana with his sword |
Despite
Diana's legendary status as a combatant and a superhero, she
unfortunately suffers from one of the craziest weaknesses for someone
who can tank planet level blows from Superman: Piercing Weapons. Diana
herself can be killed by normal handguns if she cannot deflect or react
to the bullets coming at her. Also. She has lost to Superman multiple
times, was destroyed by Doomsday, and cannot defeat Darkseid alone.
Still, despite her relatively little flaws, Wonder Woman is easily one
of the most powerful characters in fiction. Wonder Woman is badass, deadly but above all, a lovable character.
Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel
Carol Danvers grew up in the late 50's and 60's in the USA and was taught all her life to marry a man and become a housewife.
Understandably, Carol denied this lesson and, at the age of 18, signed up for the American Air Force and became one of the very best pilots in her division. During this time, she has worked as a secret agent and even became the head of the NASA's Security.
During her adventures, Carol eventually teamed up with a guy named "Mar-Vell" who so happens to be a Kree under the guise of a scientist. One day, Carol experienced a strange twist, she became the host of superhuman capabilities and discovered she also possessed powerful abilities.
Eventually, Carol used her abilities to defend Earth from numerous threats such as the Skrulls and The Kree Empire. Overtime, she was named "Ms Marvel" and has teamed up with the Avengers to take down the galaxies most powerful entities.
Over the years, she was then known as "Captain Marvel". Since then, Carol has vowed to defend Earth from anything that dares to threaten it.
That is a brief backstory of Captain Marvel. Now, let's see what she can do.

That is a brief backstory of Captain Marvel. Now, let's see what she can do.
Strength
In terms of strength, Captain Marvel is one of the strongest female superheroes in the Marvel Universe. She is officially stated to have a maximum strength range of 75-100 tons. However, there are numerous feats that put Captain Marvel at much higher strength levels. Here is a list of Strength feats for Captain Marvel.
- Punched Kree and Skrull soldiers through walls.
- Has overpowered the Hulk. Hulk is strong enough to lift a 1.5 billion ton mountain. Even better, he can also hold tectonic plates together, which essentially means holding the Earth together.
- Has broken through vibrainium and adamantium, which are the strongest metal in the Marvel Universe.
- Punched the Sentry with such force, he bled and even flinched. The Sentry is durable enough to survive supernovas and even fought World Breaker Hulk to a Standstill.
- Tanked a energy blast by Iron Man, who's repulsor blasts can melt through steel and even damage Asgardians.
- Destroyed the Doomsday Man, who is one of the most durable beings in the Marvel Universe. The Silver Surfer, who is one of the most powerful beings in Marvel, never destroyed the Doomsday Man
Speed
In terms of Speed, Captain Marvel is very fast. Here are a couple of feats for Speed
- Has casually matched Iron Man's flight speed, who can travel faster than sound and even faster than light.
- Matched Thor's attack speed and even went on to actually match Thor's flight speed. Thor, the God of Thunder, can fly around galaxies in mere seconds.
- Scales to a feat that Rogue achieved. This also counts as a feat for Captain Marvel because Rogue absorbed Captain Marvel's capabilities permanently. The feat involved Rogue flying from the Moon to Earth in mere seconds after getting upper cutted by Captain Marvel, who turned into Binary at the time.
- Dodges lightning, energy attacks, Asgardian attacks and even attacks from Celestials.
Durability
Captain Marvel is tough, really really tough. Here is a list of durability feats for Captain Marvel.
- As said before, she can scale to the same Rogue feat that resulted in rogue getting upper cutted towards the Moon. Durability wise, this is impressive since Rogue didn't actually suffer severe injuries from that attack.
- Took massive punches from The Hulk and Thor
- The Sentry punched Captain Marvel multiple times, which actually didn't severely hurt her for a moment.
- Took energy blasts from Thanos. Thanos' energy blasts are powerful enough to melt through Asgardian Armour.
- Has tanked attacks from her rival Moonstone, who is virtually identical to Captain Marvel in terms of stats and abilities
Skills
Carol Danvers is a skilled pilot, had numerous training in hand to hand combat by the military and skilled fighters like Wolverine and Captain America, a superb marksman and a journalist
Powers/Abilities
This is where the fun begins. Captain Marvel is an extraordinarily powerful combatant in terms of abilities. In fact, she has one of the most straightforward yet effective methods of attack with regards to what she can do. Here is a rundown of her Powers and abilities
- Super Strength
- Super Speed
- Super Durability
- Flight/Space Flight
- Energy Blasts: The signature ability of Captain Marvel. These energy blasts are very powerful. At base power, they can destroy star ships and even damage Asgardians. She can also emit energy blasts in a vertical line, creating a slicing beam.
- Energy Absorption: Captain Marvel can absorb energy to boost her already impressive capabilities. It also allows her to redirect back that energy with greater force. At one time, she absorbed the energy of a light bulb and unleashed a blast that is the size of a nuclear explosion.
- Hyper Cosmic Awareness: Captain Marvel can anticipate the attacks and abilities of her opponents. Although, this ability is usually activated randomly and sometimes, is not reliable enough to even help her. Still, it does give Carol an advantage over her opponent should it work.
- Regenerative Manipulation: Captain Marvel has a healing factor. This is even more impressive that the energy she absorbs can boost the healing factor to greater heights. It allows Carol to heal from life threatening wounds in battle.
- Energy Manipulation: Captain Marvel can use her energy for multiple purposes. She can even use it to change her own clothing for disguise purposes, create barriers to protect her from harm and create blade like energy made weapons for combat.
Binary
Binary is the result of Captain Marvel absorbing enough energy to the point that she becomes............ amazing. This state allows Captain Marvel to boost her stats by 11, and she becomes so powerful, she can destroy planets. It is also worth noting that Binary also boosts her powers to greater levels and even her Energy absorption can multiple her energy attacks to god like levels. In a sense, Binary is game over to those who would dare to face Captain Marvel.
Feats and Accomplishments
Of course, Carol has done quite alot of feats that make her a dangerous adversary. Here are a list of accomplishments.
- Has officially, and cleanly, defeated Moonstone multiple times
- One of the very few superheroes in the Marvel Universe who can theoretically match Thor in terms of power levels, who is able to bust planets and break dimensions
- Binary is stated to at one time be equal in terms of power as the Phoenix Force, which is an entity that can wipe out all matter of existence.
- Helped the Avengers, X-Men and The Fantastic Four take down Thanos, Ultron, Kang the Conqueror and even Galactus.
- Defeated the Incredible Hulk, a super powered radioactive shirtless Green Goliath that reminds me of Shrek, who has infinite levels of strength
- Destroyed the Doomsday man, who the Silver Surfer couldn't destroy.
- Became leader of the Avengers on multiple occasions.
- Once destroyed planet sized ships while in her Binary state.
Weaknesses
Captain Marvel, defeated by Moonstone |
Despite her Power, Captain Marvel is far from invincible. She has lost multiple times to a number of below planet level characters such as Rogue and even Iron Man. It is also worth noting that she has lost to Moonstone in a fight that Carol herself was fighting at her very best.
It is also worth noting that while Captain Marvel absorbs energy, should she take too much, she will eventually succumb to the point that the more energy is stored, her body begins to break down.
Another weakness is that Binary, while insanely powerful, doesn't last forever. Infact, should Captain Marvel expend too much energy, she will revert back into her base form, and, she will be exhausted afterwards.
Still, despite her flaws, Captain Marvel is a force to be reckoned with.
Summary
Wonder Woman
Advantages
- Superior Stats
- Almost Thirty times more experienced than Captain Marvel
- More Weapons
- Much more Skilled than Captain Marvel
- Berserker Rage>Binary State in terms of Power Levels
- Diana's Shield alone blocks all of Captain Marvel's attacks.
- Because Captain Marvel lacks any form of piercing attacks, Diana will indeed tank all of the attacks with little to no harm.
- Funny enough, Wonder Woman is also faster when flying
- Gal Gadot is far more attractive than Brie Larson.
Disadvantages
- Less Abilities
- Captain Marvel surpassed Wonder Woman at the box office
- Doesn't quite have a vibrant outfit compared to Captain Marvel's
Captain Marvel
Advantages
- More abilities
- Made more money at the box office
- Her outfit is more vibrant than Wonder Woman's
Disadvantages
- Outclassed in terms of Stats
- Pretty much child's play in terms of experience compared to Diana
- With no weapons to use, Carol is literally fighting Diana with just her abilities and her limbs......
- Far less skilled than Diana
- Even if Carol goes into Binary state, Diana would still match or exceed her with Berserker Rage.
- In order to somehow harm Diana, Carol has to first bypass the Shield, which is not going to happen because it is virtually indestructible and Diana is going to use it as her main method of defense in the fight.
- Carol's energy attacks lack pierce capabilities. This makes her situation very hard to overcome against Diana because Diana is weak to piercing attacks almost exclusively
- In a hilarious twist, Carol is much slower than Diana in terms of Flight Speed
- Brie Larson's Captain Marvel lacks the personality of Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman. And she is not even close to being as attractive as Gal Gadot XD!!!!
Wonder Woman vs Captain Marvel is interesting, and dare I say, a pretty awesome fight to behold. Unfortunately, despite the drastic similarities between the two in terms of aesthetics (Seriously, Red, Blue and Gold Outfits? I love it!!!!) Wonder Woman outclasses Captain Marvel in virtually every category aside from abilities
I do believe that Carol has an edge with the fact that she can use, well, energy attacks compared to Diana, who uses her sheer stats and weapons for combat. However, that is literally it for Captain Marvel, everything else is a nightmare for Carol Danvers.
Comparing the stats, both combatants can destroy planets and other super powered beings, but the fact that Wonder Woman literally defeated far more powerful foes in combat such as Superman, Shazam and Doomsday already makes her vastly superior to Captain Marvel. No disrespect to Carol here, I do believe she can be more of a threat to Wonder Woman compared to someone like Aquaman. However, the fact that Wonder Woman not only takes the cake in terms of stats, we now look at Skills and Weapons.
Skill wise, this is a no contest. While Captain Marvel is a well trained combatant.... Wonder Woman IS MUCH MUCH OLDER AND SKILLED!!!!!! Literally speaking, Wonder Woman has trained to become the best Amazon she could be, and she is over 3000 years old. That means Wonder Woman not only is more skilled, but also thirty times more experienced than Captain Marvel.
Weapons wise, another landslide for Wonder Woman, who has a treasure trove of weapons for any situation such as her Sword, Shield, Lasso of Truth and her Tiara. Captain Marvel? Her hands and feet.......... No contest
So with this in mind, we now look at Captain Marvel's Binary state in order to see if she has any chance to snatch a win....... And, well, Nope, that is not the case.
Why is that? The Binary state requires energy in order to trigger it. And since Wonder Woman very rarely, if at all, uses energy based attacks, Carol will have to resort to absorbing energy from either a power station, The Sun or even get up close and tank kinetic energy from Diana's attacks. At first glance, this can actually help Carol overtime, but the problem is that she will also be harmed by the damage output from Wonder Woman's physical attacks. If those attacks touch Carol, she is going to have her bones broken.
But let's just say Binary comes into play anyway, will she finally upset Wonder Woman here? Actually No XD!!!
Binary is indeed gargantuanly powerful. Unfortunately, Diana not only has fought beings that have the same powers of Binary. but are also on a different league. Superman for instance has lost to Wonder Woman cleanly, and Superman is way above Solar System level in terms of power. Binary at best is just a super form that can be beaten regardless of it's power..... And Wonder Woman has her Berserker Rage, which she can trigger by removing her bracelets of submission. This state alone is more than capable of making Binary look like a pin cushion, as her stats are vastly increased, can use magical lightning, and summon an army of minions to help her in combat.
So, thanks to her Stats, Skills, Experience, Weapons, Berserker State, Gal Gadot and Linda Carter, I believe that Wonder Woman will win this fight.
The Winner is Wonder Woman |
Next Time on Who Would Win........
Indiana Jones (Indiana Jones) vs Rick O'Connell (The Mummy)
