The Reason Why Blake Belladonna vs Mikasa Ackerman is a Waste of a Death Battle

Greetings and Welcome to a Special Edition Blog and it is going to be a very quick take on Why the Recent Death Battle between Blake Belladonna from RWBY vs Mikasa Ackerman from Attack on Titan is a unnecessary and outright atrocious match up to behold.

Now, I am not trying to say that the people who wanted this match up to be an official Death Battle are "Mindless". Infact, I deeply respect those who wanted it in the first place. This blog is only my own personal opinion on the subject matter and really, the whole idea is that I just want to point out key reasons as to why I do not think this match up is worth the time and effort to even be noticed.

So, I will begin by listing a couple of Problems with the match up

1. It is too one sided

What do you really want from a match up? Very interesting factors, a comparable level of power and stats, and some cool abilities to make the fight as evenly matched or at least exciting to behold.

Now don't get me wrong, Death Battle, and even my own "Who Would Win Series" have done massive stomps that really are not debatable. But, at least some of those stomps did have very interesting takes to make it more exciting. For instance, we had Shadow vs Ryuko recently, and while it was a massive stomp in favor of Shadow, Ryuko did have her own factors such as her regeneration that allowed her to stay in the game longer than expected. That means, she did have a small chance of at least keeping up for a while.

Blake vs Mikasa however is just outright clear and devoid of tension. The moment you realize that Blake has Shadow Clones that literally distract Mikasa and allow her to make Critical Mistakes already paints a clear picture that Blake should just stab Mikasa from Behind. Even the Thunder Spears that Mikasa uses are just a snail compared to the stuff Blake has dodged such as Adam's Sword Strikes that are faster than sound, able to scale to basically most of the RWBY Cast, who are literally Lightning Level in terms of overall Speed, and has even got the mobility Speed to outright exceed Mikasa's Omni Directional Gear.

But the worst part about this is that Blake also has more versatility with Gambol Shroud, which is a Sword with a Firearm mechanism that literally adds a long ranged option for Blake to take advantage of.

See, this is why I do not see the logic of the match up being debatable and exciting. I know the similarities are there such as both having Black Hair, Both use Twin Swords, Both use Attachable Cables to latch onto buildings and, in the case of Mikasa, Titans, and both are highly skilled combatants. However, the power difference and the abilities is simply too astronomical for it to be even a fight to begin. Which also brings up my next issue

2. The Similarities

As mentioned before, Blake and Mikasa do have notable similarities. But that does not always mean the match up is going to be close and such.

In the past, Death Battle, and even other Vs series use similar characters in order to draw readers/viewers into thinking the fights are close and exciting. While in some cases such as Dr Strange and Dr Fate do fit that criteria, bear in mind that this formula is not a perfect method to create debatable fights.

Now Blake and Mikasa do have differences. But the problem with the match up is that Blake's power levels are sooooo above Mikasa's that there really is no debate as to who is more likely going to win more times than not. Mikasa may have the "Ackerman State" stuff that is similar to the Avatar State from The Last Airbender World, but the issue is that it doesn't exactly help against someone who outclasses you in all categories with Strength, Speed and Durability.

Infact, the world of Attack on Titan is not even close to the same Power Level of RWBY. We have a world that has Monstrous Titans who are at least Multi City Block level in overall power vs a World with Gods that cause Planet Wide Extinction, Lightning Level Speedsters and Durable characters that take point blank explosions. Yeah, the difference in power is just too much.

3. Blake Belladonna is just a boring character

This issue is a personal opinion only, but, I am sorry to all Blake fans, she is the worst character in the  RWBY roster. Her personality is about as lifeless as a zombie, her story arc is messy, her relationship with Yang is just not handled properly, and especially her role in the story made Adam Taurus more of a psychopath and a stalker...... Yeah, I really do not think Blake is actually a likable character at all.

Again, it is fine if you love Blake Belladonna. I am just voicing my take on why I dislike her so much.

4. The Animation of the Death Battle

Now I promise this is not a spoiler section on what happens to the fight, but I will say this. The animation of the fight itself is actually not very steady and fluid as what you expect from these two combatants.

The only thing that made it worth watching is the killshot and that's about it. The Frames however were sooooooooooo shaky and clippy that I thought I was watching an unfinished animated movie.

If you did enjoy the animation then kudos to you. Again, I am only taking my opinion on the overall fight itself.

In the End, Blake vs Mikasa is not a match up I wanted to happen. It is One Sided, Boring, Unnecessary and a very weak point in this Season of Death Battle.

Let's hope that we get a more exciting line up in the future and, can we have Debatable Fights please this time?

  1. Honestly, I think Blake vs. Mikasa ended up being a pretty boring episode in general. The outcome was very predictable and the animation was lackluster. And yeah, the frame rate was really bad to the point where it took me right out of the fight completely. More power to those who enjoy the episode,

    2. I strongly agree with everything you said. After all, Blake vs Mikasa is a case that similar fights do not mean "Close Fights" for the most part.
