For this fight, I will be going into the base stats for both Mine and Gaige, I will also focus on their weapons and their capabilities, trump cards, Brands and manufacturers for Gaige's arsenal, abilities and finally, who I personally believe will win this epic, adorable and super close match up.
For Mine, I will include feats from both the Anime and the Manga. As for Gaige, I will focus solely on the Borderlands 2 main campaign since it is the base story line for Borderlands 2. I will also briefly mention the vehicles that Gaige has driven.
Also, I will be using screenshots from my Borderlands 2 play through as a source of information for Gaige. You will notice that the name "Puffy" is labelled in a couple of screenshots, that is my gamer tag.
So, without further ado, let's begin.
Mine "Mein"
Born and raised in the Western Borders of the Empire, Mine, (also spelt as "Mein") experienced a cruel and miserable childhood, often ridiculed for being a Half blood foreigner. Eventually, she joined a military organization known as the Revolutionary Army after realizing that it's purpose was to make alliances with countries from the West. With a promise for a new country where diplomatic relations with the people from the West would improve, Mine participates in numerous conflicts to ensure that people of her race would be treated equally and that the next generation would not suffer the same experience as what Mine experienced during her childhood.
Eventually, Mine joined Najenda's band of assassins named "Night Raid" and from then on, she has fought the Empire and the Jaegers led by General Esdeath, and vows to bring peace and justice to the people. After the War ended, Mine eventually married Tatsumi and began a family with him.
That's a brief background of Mine's backstory. Now, let's see what this cute little girl can do.
Strength
In terms of strength, Mine is lacking any notable strength feats that are above peak human. That said, she does have a couple of moments that display how strong she is for human standards.
- Carries Pumpkin around on a regular basis
- Even with her right arm broken by Hekatonheires, nicknamed "Koro", Mine still carried Pumpkin with just one hand
- Stomped on Tatsumi multiple times that caused great pain to him
- Slapped Tatsumi with such force, it created a large bruise on his cheek.
Speed
Unlike strength, Mine's speed is actually very solid. Here are a couple of speed feats for Mine.
- Dodges bullets and even dodged bullets from a skilled marksman that was close to her position
- Reacted and shot down Seryu Ubiquitous' missile
- Blocked bullets from Seryu's mouth. For reference, Seryu Ubiquitous is an Imperial Guard who joined the Jaegers who's body is armed with weaponry.
- Dodged General Budo's lightning in a attempt to rescue Tatsumi
- Able to run fast enough from Seryu, Koro and a group of Imperial soldiers while having her right arm broken.
- Managed to go on par with Esdeath. Esdeath is above lightning level in overall speed
Durability
In terms of durability, despite being human, Mine is incredibly tough. Here are some of Mine's best durability feats
- Was crushed by Hekatonheires, whose trump card allows him to go berserk and transform in a huge monster. Though she survived, Mine only had her arm broken in the process.
- Was devoured by Kurome's Giant Toad. Mine was eventually inside the Toad's stomach, which contains hydrocloric acid. Not only did Mine survive, she escaped the Toad's stomach by blasting holes from the inside, killing the Giant Toad in the process and escaped with only her outfit being torn apart.
- Was injured by Seryu Ubiquitous yet kept fighting.
- While fighting Seryu, Mine took a point blank explosion and survived, though she did feel the effects of the blast.
- Took a Punch rush from Seryu Ubiquitous. Mine eventually got back up but was still injured in the process.
Imperial Arms
Mine's Imperial Arms is "Roman Artillery" better known as "Pumpkin". This legendary weapon is a firearm that generates more power the more dangerous Mine's situation is. It also increases it's capabilities the more emotional Mine becomes. This is achieved by channeling the user's spirit energy, providing it with ammunition. That's right, Pumpkin is using Mine's spirit as it's energy supply.
Pumpkin has three modes for combat, providing it with supreme versatility. The three modes for Pumpkin are:
Sniper Mode: This mode allows Mine to use Pumpkin to fire projectiles at her target from very long distances. More impressively, Pumpkin is capable of hitting Mine's target that are kilometers away from her position.
Rapid Fire Mode: This mode allows Mine to use Pumpkin to fire projectiles at her target in a close quarters fight. This time, Pumpkin fires rapid projectiles like an automatic assault rifle.
Trump Card: Cut Down Shot "Gun Blade" Mode: This is Pumpkin's Trump card. It allows Pumpkin to emit a beam blade that is capable of cutting through everything it comes in contact with. Basically this mode turns Pumpkin into a lightsaber.... a very long and very large lightsaber
Feats for Pumpkin
While Mine herself is just a peak human being, Pumpkin on the other hand does amazing feats, capable of producing extraordinary power. Here are the feats for Pumpkin
- Regular shots can blast holes through humans
- Pumpkin can shoot Pinch Shots. Pinch shots are the standard shots of Pumpkin.
- A "Weak" Pinch shot is capable of disintegrating human beings and create long craters to the ground and even destroy the surrounding area in the process
- Blasted Dr Stylish's Giant trump Card to the ground. The Giant is the size of a mountain.
- Obliterated Esdeath's Weissschnabel. Weisschnabel is a volley of icicles that Esdeath conjures. For reference, the icicles are powerful enough to hold back a mountain sized Danger beast
- Destroyed Esdeath's Huge version of Hagelsprung. This also counts as a speed feat because Hagelsprung is an ability that caught Akame off guard for a moment, and Akame is a lightning level character in terms of speed
- A Pinch shot destroyed Seryu's missile.
- With Rapid Fire Mode, Pumpkin blasted massive holes through Koro's thick hide.
- Pumpkin's Pinch shot managed to disintegrate Kaku. Kaku is durable enough to destroy Tatsumi's sword when it came in contact with his body.
- Pumpkin's Trump Card managed to neutralize and overpower Grand Chariot's "Grand Fall". Grand Chariot's kicks are powerful, and Tatsumi, who endured these kicks, stated that the kicks from Grand Chariot are lethal to him. Tatsumi was wearing Incursio 1 armor at the time of his encounter with Grand Chariot.
- A Powerful Pinch shot blasted General Budo through the Coliseum Walls.
- With Gun blade Mode, Pumpkin destroyed both Seryu and Koro. Koro is a living Imperial Arms who can regenerate wounds instantly. Pumpkin dealt so much damage to Koro, he couldn't regenerate the lower half of his body because his core was damaged.
- At full power, Pumpkin emitted a powerful, huge Pinch shot that deadlocked with General Budo's "Solid Shooter", which is a highly concentrated Electrical Beam. Eventually, Mine And Pumpkin won the deadlock and killed Budo in the process. What happened was that Pumpkin's power was so devastating. it blasted Budo through the clouds and reached the stratosphere. This also resulted in the blast creating a massive hole through Budo's chest, who wore armor that Tatsumi's Incursio Armor couldn't even crack.
Skill set
Being a very well trained marksman, it comes to no surprise that Mine is very skilled with Pumpkin. Infact, she is a self proclaimed "Genius Sniper", a title she holds with alot of weight considering that her Sniper Skills are unrivaled. Sniper skills aside, Mine is dead on accurate with Pumpkin in any situation, whether it is long range or close range, Mine has the skills to take down her opponents using precision and power. Aside from her use of Pumpkin, Mine is also a skilled hand to hand combatant and a brilliant tactician. Mine herself analyzes her opponent with intuition and craftiness. Mine is also an experienced combatant, and claims to have achieve countless assassinations and even fought in numerous battles as a member of Night Raid.
Weaknesses
While Mine and her skills with Pumpkin are amazing, Mine is just a human. Infact, Mine is susceptible to normal means of attacks. A well placed head shot will instantly kill Mine for instance.
Also, while Pumpkin is ridiculously powerful, Pumpkin has drawbacks. The more spirit energy it consumes from Mine, the results will be lethal to Mine. Infact, in the anime, Mine's victory over General Budo came at a cost. Mine was exhausted and in a critical state because Pumpkin absorbed too much of her emotions and spirit energy. This resulted in Mine's eventual death.
Another flaw for Pumpkin, should it emit attacks repeatedly, it will eventually overheat, leaving Mine completely helpless against her opponent should Pumpkin be unusable. Also of note, Pumpkin is far from indestructible. Infact, in the same encounter with General Budo, during the deadlock, the tip of Pumpkin's barrel was broken off, indicating that sufficient force can break it.
Still, despite all the flaws, Mine is without a doubt one of Night Raids deadliest assassins. Mine is also adorable, feisty, hot tempered yet caring to her friends and above all, a true badass!!!!
Gaige
Little is known about Gaige's childhood. However, it is known that Gaige, at one time, was a high school student at the Planet "Eden-5". She eventually created DT, better known as "Deathtrap" for a science fair to combat bullying.
Gaige had a fierce rivalry with a fellow student named Marcie Holloway, who also participated in the science fair as well, and during the ranking process, Marcie had her father pay the judges to help Marcie's chances of winning the competition. Marcie apparently stole Gaige's Deathtrap blueprints and eventually handed them over to the police force.
At the day of the science fair, Marcie's father bribed the judges to allow Marcie win 1st place thanks to a defective robot that was based on Deathtrap's blueprint. Gaige, placed third in the overall competition. Marcie proceeded to antagonize Gaige, which resulted in the real Deathtrap to identify Marcie as a hostile.... this resulted in Marcie being mutilated by Deathtrap after Gaige miscalibrated Deathtrap's function to stay calm. Gaige was escorted to the principals office and faced expulsion and was arrested for the murder of Marcie Holloway.
Gaige, needing a distraction to escape, was helped by her father to evade prison time and eventually stowed away with Deathtrap inside a train after buying a ticket to Pandora, which was heading to Windshear Waste.
Afterwards, The train was a trap laid by Hyperion, the most powerful organization in Pandora led by a man named Handsome Jack. Gaige, in the process, was attacked and eventually was knocked out unconscious after Handsome Jack's trap caused an explosion that destroyed the train in the process.
Eventually, Gaige regained consciousness and was greeted by a robot named Claptrap, who escorted Gaige through the icy wasteland and eventually reach Sanctuary, from there, Gaige was met by the Crimson raiders led by Roland, who vows to take down Handsome Jack, who plans to destroy Pandora by unleashing the Warrior.
Since then, Gaige has taken down armies of Loader bots, Skags, Bullymongs, Threshers, Varkids, Psychos, bandits, rakks, crystalisks, spiderants, a false god, Handsome Jack's friends, Jack's Girlfriend, Jack himself and eventually, the Warrior. Gaige eventually became the Legendary Vault Hunter who saved Pandora from total destruction.
That is a detailed background of Gaige, now, let's see what this cutie pie is capable of.
Strength
Gaige, despite being a human, has a couple of feats for strength. Though Gaige herself is almost exclusively a ranged combatant, there are a couple of feats for strength that are worth mentioning.
- Can break down ice, steel, rubble and even crystals with her mallet
- With her mallet, Gaige can deal massive damage to bullymongs. Bullymongs are the size of a rhino or an elephant in comparison.
- Can crush armored enemies with her mallet. Sometimes, she cracks the skulls of those who wear helmets.
- Carries Rocket launchers with little effort. Some rocket launchers in the Borderlands universe are two times to three times the size and weight of regular rocket launchers.
Speed
Gaige's speed is amazing. What is noteworthy is that, while Gaige is not particularly fast for superhuman standards, she can increase her speed via skills she obtains throughout her journey. Some of Gaige's speed feats are.
- Dodging missiles regularly
- Can match Nisha's Showdown skill. Showdown is an ability that allows Nisha to automatically aim at her target and, once Nisha fire's her weapons at her opponent, never misses a shot. Gaige eventually defeated Nisha, which put's Gaige at very high reactionary speeds.
- Dodged laser attacks from Hyperion Robots.
- Can dodge Bandit vehicles driving towards her.
- Quick enough to evade attacks from Bloodwing. Bloodwing is fast enough to catch snipers off guard and even quick enough to swoop at her enemies at supersonic speeds.
- Dodged attacks from Handsome Jack, who can duplicate himself into multiple dopplegangers who can shoot at their targets in all directions.
- Dodged attacks from the Warrior
Durability
Gaige's durability is interesting. While Gaige is extremely tough, it is worth noting that Gaige usually is protected by a shield that surrounds her entire body. Feats for Gaige's durability are:
- Tanked missiles to the face. Some missiles are capable of destroying buildings
- Tanked attacks from Bullymongs, who are strong enough to throw large chunks of ice. Bullymongs are also powerful enough to send Gaige flying 60 ft backwards.
- Tanked bullets, machine gun bullets, even shotgun attacks to the face.
- Tanked explosions that would disintegrate a human being. Gaige herself can shrug off some of these explosions
- Has endured electrical, corrosive, explosive and fire attacks.
Weapons/Manufacturers
Now, in terms of weapons, Gaige is loaded with "Bazillions of Guns" while that alone gives Gaige a monumental list of weapons, for the sake of this blog, I will only do the type of weapons that are used by characters in the Borderlands universe. Here are the manufacturers for the weapons, and the list of weapon types:
Jakobs: Jakobs' guns are singe shot weapons. While they are very lacking in terms of ammo capacity, they make up for it with the term "One shot, One kill". These guns are extremely powerful, and even deal massive critical damage should they hit weak points of the enemy
Tediore: Tediore guns are by far the most bizarre weapons in Borderlands. With a balanced blend of fire rate and ammo capacity, their main function is to be thrown as a projectile towards the enemy. The interesting part of these weapons is that the more ammo that is inside the thrown weapon, the more damage they deal to the enemy and the bigger the explosion becomes. In a sense, the weapons are basically grenades.
Torgue: Torgue weapons replace their ammo with explosives instead. What's more, if a shotgun is manufactured by Torgue, they fire explosive rounds instead of the traditional shotgun shells or elemental bullets. Thus, while the fire rate for Torgue weapons are slow, and the ammo capacity is quite mediocre, they make up for it with incredible area of effect damage and dealing massive amounts of damage to the enemy
Hyperion: Hyperion weapons are by far the most balanced weapons of Borderlands. While not particularly specialized in any certain field, they do have a trump card that allows them to increase accuracy the longer the weapon is fired. This is great for hip level shooting.
Vladof: Vladof weapons have the fastest fire rate of all the weapons in Borderlands. While not quite as powerful as the Jakobs and Torgue types, they make up for it with more ammo capacity, superb fire rate and speed and ruthless efficiency in close quarters combat.
Dahl: Like Vladof, all of Dahl's weapons have a fast fire rate and are especially fast in terms of projectile speed. However, the cool thing about Dahl weapons is that once the wielder aims through the iron sight, the weapon uses a burst fire mode instead.
Maliwan: Maliwan weapons are elemental weapons exclusively. They are practically specialized with the elemental type they are assigned with. Still, Maliwan weapons are fairly balanced in terms of stats though they do have the drawback on being too specialized to just one elemental type.
Bandit: Bandit weapons have the largest ammo capacity of all the manufacturers in Borderlands. They also have a decent stat range though their fire rate is slower than most weaponry, they still back a punch in terms of firepower.
Pistols: In Borderlands, Pistols come in different shapes and sizes, depending on the manufacturer. Here is a list of the Pistol Type weapon capabilities
- Some pistols are six shooters
- Some pistols are burst fired while aimed down the sight
- Some use elemental bullets,
- some are even rapid fire
- some can be thrown as a grenade.
- some Pistols increase their accuracy the longer they are fired
Shotguns: Like Pistols, shotguns are made with different capabilities depending on the manufacturer. Here are the capabilities of shotguns:
- Some shotguns can shoot explosive rounds, creating massive explosions in the process
- Some shotguns can even fire elemental shells
- Some shotguns can be thrown as a grenade
- Some shotguns are even fired at rapid succession.
Assault Rifles: Assault Rifles are basically what you expect, they fire rapid projectiles and even have large ammo capacities. Here are some of the capabilities for the Assault rifles.
- Some Rifles are Burst fired once aimed down the sight
- Some Rifles fire elemental bullets
- Some Rifles can even shoot out Rockets and explosive projectiles.
- Some Rifles can fire out lasers
Like all weapon types, Assault rifles can be attached with a bayonet for close quarters combat
Sub Machine Guns: Sub Machine Guns have the slowest bullet velocity of all the firearms in Borderlands. However, they make up for that flaw with an incredible fire rate, quick reload times and amazing elemental damage. Here are some of the SMG's capabilities:
- Some SMG's are burst fired once aimed down the sight
- Some SMG's are elemental based weapons. The bullets from Elemental SMG's are literally just balls of energy instead of physical bullets
- Some SMG's can be thrown as a grenade
- Some SMG's increase accuracy the longer they are fired.
Sub Machine Guns can also be attached with bayonets for close quarters combat
Sniper Rifles: Sniper Rifles are pretty simple, they are used for long ranged combat and even fire at great distances. What's more, a skilled marksman can even shoot sniper rifles without aiming down the sight and hit their target. Here are the capabilities of the Sniper Rifles
- Some Sniper Rifles can shoot devastating shots that can bypass shields and even kill the enemy instantly
- Some Sniper Rifles can even be fired in short bursts
- Some Sniper Rifles fire elemental bullets
- Some Sniper Rifles can be fired rapidly.
- Some Sniper Rifles increase accuracy the longer they are fired.
Rocket Launchers: All Rocket Launchers pack devastating power. They also have the biggest area of effect damage of all the weapons in Borderlands while lacking in terms of reload time. However, depending on the manufacturer, Rocket Launchers are surprisingly versatile. Here are some of their capabilities.
- Some Rocket Launchers can be thrown. This time, unlike the other weapon types, the thrown Rocket Launcher flies in a straight line.
- Some Rocket Launchers create huge walls of explosions
- Some Rocket Launchers emit elemental clouds of acid, electricity, slag and fire.
- Some Rocket Launcher can shoot projectiles that instantly reach their intended target. This puts their projectiles to FTL speeds if not slightly less
- Some Rocket Launchers are fired at rapid succession.
Grenades: Grenades are thrown at the enemy to do what you expect: Explode their target and the area around them. However, they are also surprisingly versatile in terms of capabilities thanks to Grenade Mods that Vault Hunters such as Gaige use. Here are the capabilities for Grenades
- Some grenades split into multiple grenades for greater area of effect damage
- Some grenades reach their target location instantly. putting them at FTL speeds
- Some grenades perform transfusion. Transfusion is a process that lets the grenade attach itself to the enemy, and after exploding, leeches their health and transfers it to the user.
- Some Grenades bounce around til they hit their target.
- Some Grenades deal elemental explosions
- Some Grenades become a movable turret, dealing ranged damage.
- Some grenades pull their victims towards an explosion, dealing massive area of effect damage once it is unleashed
Hammer: Gaige uses a mallet for melee attacks. She is capable of cracking skulls of armored enemies, destroy Loader Bots, and even break through steel objects easily.
Shields
Gaige, like all other characters from Borderlands, is equipped with a protective shield. Depending on what she uses, some shields have different ways for both defensive and offensive capabilities. Here is a list of the shield types used by Gaige.
Anshin: Shields manufactured by Anshin provide rapid recharge rate. Sometimes, they provide elemental resistances and even increase health to the wearer
Pangolin: Shields manufactured by Pangolin provide high shield capacity but the trade off is a slower recharge rate and reduces Gaige's total health.
Dahl: Whenever Gaige is attacked, there is a chance that a shield booster will drop, which recharges a portion of Gaige's shield.
Hyperion: When fully charged, the shield amplifies Gaige's attack power while partially draining the shield in the process. In particular, "The Bee", a legendary shield that provides the attack power boost without partially draining the shield is an extraordinarily powerful item to have.
Maliwan: Whenever Gaige is attacked by a melee weapon, the attacker is struck by elemental damage. This can be an Elemental Spike or an Elemental Nova, which created a large area of effect blast around Gaige should her shield be depleted. Also, Maliwan shields provide elemental resistances also.
Bandit: Should Gaige's shield be depleted, Gaige's melee attacks increase dramatically until it recharges again
Tediore: Lower capacity shields with very fast recharge rates and shorter recharge delays.
Torgue: Similar effects of Maliwan shields except instead of elemental damage, Torgue shields emit explosives instead
Vladof: Vladof shields allow Gaige to have a chance to absorb bullets fired at her, adding to her ammunition stock.
Elemental Effects
Most weapons in Borderlands are elemental types. Each elemental types provides different capabilities and effects. They are:
Fire: Fire weapons are super effective against unarmored enemies and dealt burn damage. Also, enemies struck by a fire weapon have a chance to ignite in flames, burning them overtime and dealing damage in the process
Corrosion: Corrosive weapons are super effective against armored enemies and robots. Corrode weapons deal acidic damage that burns through the enemies body with devastating results. Also, Corroded enemies have a chance to be coated entirely with corrosive acid, dealing acidic damage overtime.
Shock: Shock Weapons are super effective against shields and deal electrical damage to enemies. Also, shock weapons have a chance to completely electrocute the enemy overtime, dealing shock damage overtime.
Explosive: Explosive weapons explode.... haha. That said, they also deal area of effect damage that are extraordinarily powerful. Explosive weapons can deal
Slag: Slag weapons coat the enemy with slag, this substance allows Gaige to increase the damage output of other elemental types, making slag an extremely powerful elemental type.
Vehicles
Gaige has driven two types of vehicles. They are:
Outrunner: The Outrunner is a buggy type vehicle that is outfitted with two machine gun turrets. Gaige can use both turrets simultaneously for devastating firepower
Bandit Technical: Bandit Technicals are Trucks that are outfitted with a machine gun turret and a sawblade turret or a catapult. Deathtrap
Gaige's best friend and life long guardian is Deathtrap. Deathtrap is a robot created by Gaige to originally fight bullying at the science fair. Due to unfortunate circumstances, Deathtrap instead became more of a weapon for Gaige whenever she is in trouble. Deathtrap is an extraordinarily powerful Robot and Gaige relies on Deathtrap to provide her for protection and to help her defeat groups of enemies with ruthless efficiency. Deathtrap is armed with digitized claws for melee combat and can fire an electrical beam at it's enemies for long range combat.
Deathtrap is unique that he is an action skill. Action skills in Borderlands are the signature abilities of the Vault Hunters and other characters to combat their enemies. In the case of Gaige, she can summon Deathtrap at any time.
It is also worth noting that Deathtrap has a time limit though he can come back to the battlefield again once the action skill cool down is finished.
Abilities/Skills
Gaige is a role playing character. So the true path of her skill tree is very difficult to pinpoint. Luckily, Gaige's skill tree does provide a couple of noteworthy capabilities. Some provide team benefits and some provide single player benefits also. There are three skill trees for Gaige, Best Friends Forever, Little Big Trouble and Ordered Chaos. All three of these skill trees provide different capabilities that suit the player's play style and affect Gaige's combat effectiveness. Here is a list of the abilities that Gaige has for each skill tree.
Ordered Chaos
Ordered Chaos is a skill tree with an emphasis on Anarchy, this is a list of Gaige's skills for Ordered Chaos
- Smaller, Lighter Faster: Increases Gaige's reload speed at the cost of a smaller magazine size
- Anarchy: Killing an enemy or depleting her ammunition, Gaige is stacked with Anarchy, which increases her damage output but reduces her accuracy in the process
- Preshrunck Cyberpunk: Increases Gaige's number of Anarchy Stacks
- Robot Rampage: Deathtrap lashes out with a flurry of attacks
- Blood Soaked Shields: Should Gaige kill her opponent, she recharges her shield at the cost of draining her health
- Annoyed Andriod: Increases the movement speed of Deathtrap. This ability allows Deathtrap to reach Gaige's enemies at long distances in a short time span.
- Discord: Should Gaige reload, Discord is activated, which increases her accuracy, fire rate and a healing factor for a short period of time. Though this does lower the stacks of Anarchy, should Gaige reload again, Discord is deactivated
- Typecast Iconoclast: Should Gaige get a stack of Anarchy, there is a chance she will be given a bonus stack
- Rational Anarchist: Should Gaige have a zero amount of anarchy stacks, she will instead reach 25 stacks of anarchy once she activates Anarchy
- Death from Above: Should Gaige kill an enemy while in mid air, she will lost stacks of anarchy while delivering a digisplosion, which damages nearby enemies
- The Nth Degree: Every Nth bullet fired by Gaige will ricochet to another enemy.
- With Claws: Melee Override Skill, While Gaige has stacks of Anarchy, she replaces her mallet with digistructed claws, which are swung at her enemies twice, delivering devastating damage and even restore Gaige's health in the process. The Lower Gaige's health is, the more health she regains while using the claws.
Little Big Trouble
Little Big Trouble is another skill tree that focuses on Elemental Damage, in particular with Shock Damage. It also adds elemental power to Deathrap, which can give him beam attacks shock blasts and even lets Deathtrap mimic the weapon that Gaige shoots him with. Here is a List of abilities for Little Big Trouble
- More Pep: Increases Gaige's chances of Burning, Corroding, Electrocuting and Slagging her enemies with the assigned elemental attacks
- Myelin: Grants Gaige Shock resistances, it also increases Gaige's shield capacity
- Shock Storm: Should Gaige kill and enemy, she unleashes a shock storm that damages nearby enemies. Also, Deathtrap can also use this skill whenever he kills an enemy
- The Stare: Deathtrap Ability: Deatrap emits a powerful beam across a wide area and dealing burn damage, even igniting enemies in the process
- Strength of Five Gorillas: Increases both Gaige's and Deathtrap's melee damage
- Electrical Burn: Should Gaige attack her enemies with shock damage, there is a chance they will also ignite in flames and are dealt with burn damage also. The amount of burn damage is based on the amount of electrical damage dealth
- Shock and "AAAAAAAGGGGGHHHHH": Whenever Gaige reloads her weapon, an electircal blast is emitted from her, dealing massive area of effect damage
- Evil Enchantress: Whenever Gaige kills and enemy, she increases the damage that her burn, corrode and electrical status effects deal to her enemies
- One Two Boom: Deathtrap unleashed an orb towards his enemy. Should Gaige shoot the Orb, the orb explodes, dealing massive Shock damage to nearby enemies.
- Wires Don't Talk: Increases Gaige's Electrical Damage
- Interspersed Outburst: Not shooting at her enemies for a while, Gaige is granted a stack of Interspersed Outburst. Once Gaige shoots again, all stacks of the skill are consumed and Gaige deals slag damage. The more stacks are consumed the greater the chance of slagging her target.
- Make it Sparkle: Whenever Gaige shoots Deathtrap with an elemental weapon, Deathtrap will use the same elemental type to boost his attack power and deal elemental damage in the process.
Best Friends Forever
Gaige's Third skill tree is Best Friends Forever. This skill tree focuses on survival and aiming skills. Here is a list for Best Friends Forever
- Close Enough: Bullets shot at walls or objects provide a chance to ricochet towards Gaige's enemies
- Cooking up Trouble: While Gaige's magazine is full, she regenerates health
- Fancy Mathematics: Improves Gaige's Shield Recharge rate and Recharge delay. The lower Gaige's health is, the stronger the effect
- Buck Up: Deathtrap restores the shield of one ally.
- The Better Half: Should Gaige's magazine be half empty, her fire rate increases
- Potent as a Pony: Increases both Gaige and Deathtrap's maximum health
- Upshot Robot: Should Deathtrap be around, whenever Gaige and Deathtrap kill an enemy, this ability increases the duration of Deathtraps presence and also increases both Gaige's and Deathtraps melee damage
- Unstoppable Force: Whenever Gaige kills an enemy, she gains a speed boost and causes her shields to regenerate for a short while
- Explosive Clap: Deathtrap Ability. Deathtrap causes an explosion infront of him, dealing massive damage in the process
- Made of Sterner Stuff: Both Gaige and Deathtrap have a higher resistance to all forms of attacks. Deathtrap in particular increases his melee damage
- 20% Cooler: Reduces the cooldown rate of Gaige's action skill, which summons Deathtrap
- Sharing is Caring: Grants a copy of Gaige's shield to Deathrap.
Class Mods
Gaige holds a class mod during battle. Class mods provide Gaige with different benefits for combat and even increase the skill levels of her abilities. Some class mods even provide positive and negative effects for Gaige and grant Gaige a title. Here is a list of Gaige's Class mods:
- Anarchist/Legendary Anarchist: This mod increases Gun Damage but reduces Gun Accuracy, it also increases the skill levels of Unstoppable Force, Myelin, Strength of Five Gorillas, Smaller Lighter, Fast, and Typecast Iconoclast
- Jill of all Trades: This mod increases Assault rifle damage and magazine size. It also increases the skill levels of The Better Half, More Pep and Smaller, Lighter, Faster
- Catalyst/Legendary Catalyst: This mod increases the Elemental Damage for Gaige and her team mates. It also increases the skill levels of More Pep, Electrical Burn,Evil Enchantress,Wires Don't Talk and Interspersed Outburst
- Legendary Mechromancer: This class mod reduces Gaige's action skill cool down rate, an ability that allows her to summon Deathtrap. It also increases the skill levels of Cooking up Trouble,The Better Half, 20% Cooler,More Pep, Strength of Five Gorillas and Smaller, Lighter, Faster
- Roboteer/Legendary Roboteer: This Class mod reduces Gaige's action skill cool down rate and also increases her melee damage. It also increases the skill levels of Potent as a Pony, Made of Sterner Stuff, 20% Cooler,Strength of Five Gorillas and Annoyed Android
- Slayer of Terramorphous: This class mod increases Gaige's Burn Damage, Burn damage and Maximum Health. It also increases the skill levels of Fancy Mathematics, Made of Sterner Stuff, Evil Enchantress,Interspersed Outburst and Preshrunk Cyberpunk
- Punk: This class mod increases Gaige's fire rate at the cost of a smaller magazine size. It also increases the skill levels of The Better Half, Annoyed Android and Smaller,Lighter,Faster
- Prodigy: This class mod increases Gaige's Weapon Accuracy and Reload Speed. It also increases the skill levels of Cooking up Trouble, The Better Half and More Pep
- Sweetheart: This class mod increases Gaige and her team mates maximum health. It also increases the skill levels of Cooking up Trouble, The Better Half and More Pep.... Basically it is Prodigy's twin XD!!!!
- Technophile: This Class mod increases Gaige's Shield Capacity while reducing the Recharge rate. It also increases the skill levels of Fancy Mathematics, Strength of Five Gorillas and Interspersed Outburst
- Zapper: This class mod provides Gaige with increased Shock Damage and increases her chance to electrocute her enemies overtime. It also increases the skill levels of Electrical Burn, More Pep and Wires Don't Talk.
Relics
Relics are powerful items that provide passive benefits to Gaige and other Vault Hunters. Here is a list of Relic types in Borderlands.
Vitality Relics: These relics provide a health boost of up to 50%.
Allegiance Relic: Boosts a specific manufacturer's effects. E.g. A Hyperion weapon would have the accuracy effects doubled. Can have a maximum of two effects simultaneously, making this relic a very versatile item
Stockpile Relic: Boosts the munitions of specific class of weapons and even the amount of grenades being carried. A total of three types of weapons and grenades gain the benefit of this Relic.
Protection Relic: Boosts Shield Capacity and Recharge Rate.
Aggression Relic: Increases weapon damage or fire rate to specific weapons.
Resistance Relic: Boosts resistances to non elemental or elemental types. a Total of 4 resistances could be present.
Tenacity Relic:Improves the bleed out time for Gaige whenever she is in "Fight for your Life". It also improves Gaige's health should she be revived or even gain a second wind.
Elemental Relic: Increases Damage of the specific elemental type.
Proficiency Relic: Improves Action Skill Cooldown Rate
Strength Relic: Increases Melee Damage and/or Override Cooldown Rate. Note, Gaige's "With
Claws" ability doesn't have the Override Cooldown Rate benefit because it doesn't have a cooldown to it.

There are also Legendary Relics that provide more powerful bonuses such as increasing weapon damage, Increased chance of finding Rare loot and even Shop Timer Reduction. Here are two notable Relics.
Blood of Terramorhpous: Regenerates Health relative to Gaige's level. This can range from 0.5% to even 1.6%
Blood of the Seraphs: Increases Gaige's Health and adds a healing factor. It no longer changes statistics for Gaige's stats should this relic be equipped.
Fight for your Life/Second Wind
Should Gaige lose all her health, she will eventually be in a "Fight for your Life" State. This state gives Gaige one more chance to kill her enemies. Should she succeed in doing so, she gains a "Second Wind", which instantly revives Gaige and provides a portion of her total health in the process.
Badass Rank
Another asset to Gaige's stats is her Badass Rank. The Badass Rank provides passive stats that increase Gaige's overall effectiveness in combat such as Increased health, Gun Damage, Fire Rate etc.
Weaknesses
While Gaige herself is a total monster in combat, along with Deathtrap, unfortunately, Gaige herself is just a human who is equipped with weapons and items that help her in combat.
While Gaige's equipment is vast, she can only carry a set amount. Therefore, her options are very specific in different situations. This gives Gaige a disadvantage against someone who has more versatility than her and Deathtrap. Also of note, in terms of Versatility, Gaige and Deathtrap are more of a specialized Force. While Gaige can wield versatile weapons like SMG's with elemental bullets and a bayonet, Gaige herself isn't versatile with most of her skills and abilities should she lack any weapons in combat.
As for abilities, most of Gaige's abilities rely on her killing an opponent to gain the benefit. So in this fight, nearly half of Gaige's skills will be utterly useless unless she achieves victory.
Another flaw for Gaige, should she fail with "Fight For your Life", Gaige will die..... Though she can resurrect herself via Hyperion New-U stations. However, by rules of fighting to the Death, if Gaige dies in this fight, she will die permanently.
Also, Gaige and Deathtrap can be severely damaged by all means of attacks, though elemental resistances do help, they still endure the effects of those damage types anyway. Hence, Gaige is not immune to anything that harms her.
Still despite her flaws, Gaige is without a doubt one of the coolest characters in fiction. Also, on a personal note, Gaige is one of my all time favorite Borderlands characters. Thank you Gaige for being a great character to play as :D!!!!

- Pumpkin also has the superior range. With a range of Kilometers long, Pumpkin gives Mine a huge Range advantage should she be in far distances from Gaige.

- Pumpkin alone outclasses all of Gaige's weapons in terms of firepower
- Doesn't have specialized skills like Gaige, who has to kill enemies in order to activate them. This gives Mine and Pumpkin better reliability
- Mine herself has dealt with Seryu Ubiquitous and Koro, so the numeric advantage that Gaige and Deathtrap have means nothing to Mine. Even better, Deathtrap runs on a time limit so should the timer be finished, Deathtrap will disappear until Gaige has to summon him again after a cool down
- Smarter than Gaige in terms of tactics
- Pumpkin is more accurate than Gaige's weapons, even Gaige's Sniper Rifles cannot compete with Pumpkin's capabilities.
- With the Danger Factor coming into play, Pumpkin will provide Mine with exceptional firepower during the fight.
- A Full blast from Pumpkin's Gun Blade will severely damage Gaige and Deathtrap
- Is more determined than Gaige
- Longer Pig Tails, making her extremely cute
Disadvantages
- Weaker Stats than Gaige
- Melee attacks are laughable compared to Gaige, who uses a Mallet and her Digistruct claws (If Gaige is using the Ordered Chaos skill tree exclusively)
- Pumpkin is not indestructible, therefore, a corrosive attack from Gaige will melt through it should Mine try to block the projectiles.
- Relies on Pumpkin for her attacks, should Pumpkin be destroyed, Mine is defenseless
- Pumpkin, while very versatile and powerful, will overheat should Mine constantly use it.
- If Mine unleashes her more powerful attacks to Gaige, it will drain Mine's spirit to the point that it will exhaust Mine severely.
- Mine herself isn't protected by a shield, unlike Gaige.
- Uses just one weapon compared to Gaige, who can use over 12 in her inventory

Advantages
- Better Stats than Mine.
- Way more numerous equipment, giving Gaige more weapons for the fight
- No matter the scenario, Gaige is always by Deathtrap's side. Giving Gaige and Deathtrap the numeric advantage over Mine
- Gaige has a shield protecting her. This gives Gaige better Defenses than Mine.
- Smarter than Mine in terms of tech handling
- Way more skills and abilities than Mine.
- Carries FTL grenades should she have them. These grenades can catch Mine off Guard
- Deathtrap can be given a copy of Gaige's shield should Gaige have the Sharing is Caring Skill
- Has more powerful elemental effects with specific weapon types.
- Is way more unpredictable to Mine, since Gaige's weapons do have certain abilities that are beyond logic.
- Sexier than Mine
- More adorable than Mine once Deathtrap carries her around
Disadvantages
- All of Gaige's weapons are outclassed by Pumpkin's versatility and firepower
- While Gaige and Deathtrap do have the numeric advantage, Mine's encounters with Seryu and Koro mean that the numeric advantage means nothing to Mine. Also, Deathtrap is only around for a limited time. So if the timer is up, Deathtrap will disappear and Gaige loses the numeric advantage for a moment.
- Will be killed by Mine if she doesn't finish her off while in "Fight for your Life"
- Pumpkin's range outclasses even Gaige's sniper rifles.
- Nearly half of Gaige's abilities require Gaige to kill an enemy in order to activate them. This puts Gaige in a huge disadvantage against Mine in terms of reliable abilities
- With Danger Factor coming into play, Pumpkin will increase it's firepower, this gives Gaige and Deathtrap a very dire situation if they cannot finish Mine off quickly.
- Gaige and Deathtrap will certainly be severely damaged once Pumpkin's Gun blade slices at them.
- Arguably less experienced than Mine, who is a trained assassin for the most of her life
- Not as smart as Mine in terms of tactics
- Not as cute as Mine because Gaige's pig tails are smaller
Conclusion
Behold, Mine vs Gaige is now officially, one of closest match ups I ever analyzed. . Infact, this is the only match up that took me 3-4 days worth of guessing on who would win due to extensive research.
Also of note, I had to redo the whole research one more time to find a winner. Well, now I did it, I finally found the answer. But first, lets look at the fight itself.
In terms of Stats, Gaige beats Mine. While Mine herself is good for human standards, Gaige herself has done way more impressive feats. Strength clearly goes to Gaige since she can break through steel objects easily whereas Mine lacks any notable strength feats to compete with that alone. Speed is close though Gaige's reaction speed does help her here since she has reacted and dodged laser fire from Hyperion robots and even Handsome Jack and his doppelgangers, who attacked Gaige from all directions. Durability clearly goes to Gaige thanks to the shield she is equipped for combat and Gaige herself has tanked alot of punishment over the course of the Borderlands 2 story line.
However, Stats alone do not seal the deal. We have to look at the weapons and equipment in order to get a better picture of the fight itself.
In terms of weapons, Gaige has way more weapons to carry than Mine, who only has Pumpkin whereas Gaige can carry all sorts of weapons at her disposal. However, while Gaige does bring more weapons, Pumpkin alone is way more powerful than all of those weapons in terms of versatility and firepower. This helps Mine in the fight against Gaige because Pumpkin can overpower all of Gaige's weapons in direct combat.
However, in terms of equipment, Gaige clearly wins. You see, Gaige is armed with Grenades, a Shield that provides superior protection, a class mod that boosts her skills to greater heights, and relics that give her powerful benefits
Now, we have an important factor that is is critical in this fight, Abilities and trump cards.
For starters, both Mine and Gaige have amazing abilities. However, Gaige suffers from having more abilities that rely solely on killing her opponents, giving her a huge disadvantage in terms of reliability. Mine on the other hand has Pumpkin's abilities, which increases it's firepower the more danger Mine is in. This factor alone gives Mine a huge advantage over Gaige in terms of abilities. However, Gaige has Deathtrap, who is basically her best asset in the fight in terms of versatility and providing Gaige the numeric advantage over Mine. However, Mine has defeated Seryu and Koro so the numeric advantage doesn't actually matter to Mine. Infact, the numeric advantage provides Pumpkin even more power thanks to the increased Danger level that Mine would experience.
However, what's more, Pumpkin's ranged capabilities are way superior to Gaige's weapons and even Deathtrap. In fact, Gaige's sniper rifles, while extremely powerful, are not even close to Pumpkin's range which can hit their target kilometers away from Mine's position. This means Mine very well could end the fight without Gaige knowing about Mine's position.
However, there is one more factor to come into play. Gaige is by far way more unpredictable to Mine. Thanks to her equipment, Gaige can utilize her weapons and items to maximum effect. This can lead to Mine being open to a killshot by Gaige should it be capitalized. Even Gaige's grenades can instantly reach their targets with supreme accuracy.
So, the most difficult question is, Who is going to finally win?
My answer? Well, After 3-4 days of thinking and redoing the research, I personally believe that the winner of this match up is............................
Gaige in my opinion will win this match simply because she has more weapons, she is protected by a shield that provides superior defenses, has taken down foes that are capable of large city level power, and even defeated more unpredictable enemies. Mine, while amazingly powerful with Pumpkin does have a drawback against Gaige, Elemental Effects. While Fire and Shock attacks from Gaige would bounce off Pumpkin, Corrosive attacks will melt through Pumpkin, this in turn gives Gaige a massive advantage over Pumpkin should she have corrosive weapons in her bag, which will most likely happen anyway. Infact, Pumpkin is just an Imperial Arms that is super tough by weapon standards. But, since Imperial Arms are forged by the same material that creates armor, it is safe to assume that Corrosive bullets from Gaige will melt through Pumpkin. Why? Because Corrosive attacks are super effective against armored opponents. Hence, Pumpkin's design is metallic, therefore, Corrosive attacks will eventually break it down to the point it will be utterly useless.
It is also worth noting that while Mine could snipe Gaige from a very long distance, Gaige herself has reacted to Nisha's attacks before, who can pinpoint her opponents instantly and always hit her targets. So the Range advantage for Mine will help her but the reaction speed of Gaige would allow her to dodge it.
Also, Gaige has Deathtrap, who would help Gaige attack Mine from different directions. While Deathtrap has a time limit, and will eventually die from Mine's attacks, Gaige could simply revive Deathtrap anyway because Deathtrap is actually an action skill. What's worse, should Mine expend too much energy on Pumpkin, Pumpkin will overheat and eventually become useless overtime, leaving Mine completely defenseless against both Gaige and Deathtrap.
So, thanks to her superior stats, more numerous arsenal, Deathtrap, elemental damage, shields and unpredictability, I believe in what has to be one of the closest battles of all time, Gaige will prevail.
