Season 6: Geralt of Rivia (The Witcher) vs Talion The Gravewalker (Middle-Earth)

Greetings and Welcome to another Edition of my Who Would Win Series and it is going to be a clash between Geralt of Rivia from the Witcher Series vs Talion the Gravewalker from Tolkien's Middle-Earth Franchise.

The information of this particular match up is unique in that I will mainly focus on two main sources.

The first to go over is that I will use the Witcher Video Games as the Primary Source for Geralt's info. As for Talion, his story is actually Non Canon to the Official Lord of the Rings Lore, but, since I always give each character their maximum potential and accurate portrayal, I decided to include those Non Canon Sources anyway :D!!!!!

Of course, I will go into the Physical Stats, Abilities, Weaponry, Feats, Weaknesses, with more "Extra" factors and finally, who I personally believe will win this fight.

Without Further ado, let's begin

Geralt of Rivia (Spoilers)

Geralt of Rivia, famously known as "The Butcher of Blaviken" is the Main Character of the Witcher Series.

Geralt's Story is astounding. He was born into a family that, unfortunately, left him on the road. Only to be found by the "School of the Wolf", which is a Witcher School.

Eventually, the young Geralt was taken to Kaer Morhen, which is a hub for Witchers and a perfect training ground for beginners. Geralt was under the tutelage of Vesemir, who also became Geralt's Father Figure in life.

After extensive and brutal Training, Geralt eventually mastered his skills into becoming a Witcher.

At this point, the following moments are best described in this list of "Major Moments"

  • Geralt ended up losing his memory and was returned to Kaer Morhen after being taken back, presumed dead at the time.
  • Was in pursuit of the Rogue Mage Azar Javed and the Professor, who led a raid on Kaer Morhen and plundered the Alchemy Section of the Fortress.
  • Defeated Azar and The Professor
  • Defeated The Grandmaster (No, not the Grandmaster of this blog series XD!!!!)
  • Found and assassinated Letho, the "Assassin of Kings", who actually assassinated King Foltest
  • Found his lover Yennefer of Vengerberg and his Adopted Daughter Ciri.
  • Fought and Defeated the Wild Hunt, who also tried to hunt down Ciri.
  • Took down the Time Manipulator Gaunter O'Dimm and freed Olgierd Von Everec's soul. Or, Geralt didn't intervene, which allowed Olgierd to wither and die...... Ooof XD!!!
  • Traveled to Toussaint and defeated numerous Bruxa and even a powerful Vampire named Dettlaff.
  •  Bought his own home in Toussaint.

Those are the highlights of Geralt's Story in the games. Now, let's see what this legendary Witcher can do

Physical Stats

Geralt is by all intents and Purposes, actually a Mutant. No, he is not one of the X-Men, he is actually a genetically enhanced human being with tremendous Superhuman capabilities. Here are a list of notable feats achieved by the Witcher

Strength

  • Able to break through shields with his Stronger Attacks.
  • Can push large boulders
  • Can cleave not one, not two, but three men with just a single sword strike. In the first Witcher Game, Geralt's Sweeping attacks actually target "Everyone" around him in a 360 degree angle. Which means, Geralt can pretty much cleave over 10 guys at once!!!!!
  • Able to thrust his Silver Sword towards a Troll's Underbelly, which is six times tougher than Human Flesh
  • Parried attacks from other Superhuman Characters. In the Witcher 3 Tutorial, Geralt was parrying strikes from Vesemir, who is a Witcher that has identical capabilities as Geralt.
  • Can slice and pierce through Endrega's, who are armored Insectoids with Carapaces that are as tough as Plate mail
  • Has sliced up numerous Earth Elementals, which can weigh at around 100 tons depending on the Rocks they are made out of. However, this means that Geralt is capable of cutting through boulders, provided he has his Silver Sword and the necessary Oil to make the job easier .
  • Can slice up Cyclops and a Ice Giant. Not necessary cleaving them in half, more like striking them down to at least make them flinch
  • Using Clubs, Geralt can smash through Armor and Shields
  • Sliced up the Kayran's Tentacles. Though they were covered by specific bubbles that Geralt saw as weak points. Still, very solid
  • Thrusted his Silver Sword towards a Dragon's Neck from the backside. Geralt even pulled the Dragon's Neck back for a moment.

Geralt vs The Dragon. Hold on buddy, hold on.

Speed

  • Can block and even Deflect attacks from his humanoid enemies such as Bandits, Thugs, even other hostile Witchers
  • Avoided magical spells and Signs.
  • Sliced up a Crossbow Bolt that was shot towards him
  • Outpaced Ciri in a training session. Though this was before Ciri mastered her skills as a Witcher at that point in the story before she ended up becoming a Speedy Teleporter...... XD!!!

  • His flurry attacks can dismember foes in a few seconds.
  • Can shoot down flying creatures such as Griffins, Basiliks, Harpies and Wyverns/Forktails.

Durability

  • Depending on armor, Geralt has resistances to:
  1. Slashing
  2. Bludgeoning
  3. Piercing
  4. Monster Damage
  5. Elemental Damage
  • Has survived a couple of slashes and piercing attacks over the course of his games
  • Using his Quen Sign (Coming up), Geralt has his own Shield that negates incoming damage. This shield actually makes Geralt invulnerable for a limited time, or when it is shattered by enough force.
  • Took crushing blows from Giant Monsters like the Cyclops, Ice Giant, Fiends, the Kayran and the Dragon
  • Was hammered by a couple of Earth Elemental smashes, which are powerful enough to cause tremors.
  • Took blows from Letho, who is comparable to a Witcher's Capabilities in terms of Strength.
  • Was burned, poisoned and even cursed and yet still managed to fight on. Badass!!!!!!

Weaponry

Geralt is armed with numerous weapons. However, he mainly relies on Melee Weapons for Combat, though in Witcher 3, he was given a "Special Type" That kinda took a twist on the "Witcher's Tradition".

Still, here is a generalized look at Geralt's Weaponry.

Steel Sword

The Steel Sword is specifically designed for fighting against the more "Natural" enemies such as Bandits, Thugs, Humans, Dwarves, Elves, Wildlife such as Wolves, Bears. There have been numerous Steel Swords in the games but the main crunch of those swords is that they deal damage to Non Magical Beings. They vary in length and size, but they get the job done regardless

Silver Sword

Of course, while the Steel Sword is made of Traditional Materials, The Silver Sword is made of, well, Silver and magical properties. In fact, this Sword type is the answer to Monsters and Magical Entities. Because of this, Geralt can actually slice through Monster types that are normally impossible for other weapons to achieve such as Elemental Skin. It is also able to harm intangible beings such as Wraiths and Ghosts.

Crossbow

Added in The Witcher 3, The Crossbow is actually quite versatile. It is used to shoot down foes from afar but most importantly, can shoot down large flying monsters to the ground, allowing Geralt to fight them with clean and hilarious moments XD!!!!

Funny stuff aside, it can use numerous ammo types like Explosive Bolts, Tracking Bolts, Silver Bolts for Monsters, and a Multi Shot :D!!!!

Other Weapon Types

Geralt also used numerous weapons in the past. Though not quite as effective compared to his Steel and Silver Swords, these weapons do serve a purpose. Here are the Weapon types Geralt can wield

  • Clubs
  • Axes
  • Nunchucks
  • Spears
  • Daggers
  • Hammers

Signs

From Left to Right. Aard, Axii, Igni, Quen and Yrden

Geralt is not only a master of Combat, he has one of the most versatile abilities in his series known as "Signs". With the use of Finger gestures, Signs are used for numerous effects. Here are the Signs that Geralt can use.

Aard

Aard is a Sign that unleashed a "Forceful Wave" that can push back numerous objects and enemies. Pretty much the Witcher version of a Jedi/Sith Force Push. Upgraded, it can have a wider arc and longer range, can also freeze enemies in place. That's right, if Geralt chooses, he can upgrade Aard to Freeze his opponents for a free shot at finishing of the enemy.

Axii

If the Aard Sign was the Witcher's Version of the Star Wars Force Push, then Axii is the Witcher's Version of the Mind Trick.

Axii is ideal for stunning foes and put them in a amnesic state. However, if Geralt upgrades Axii further, he can even control his enemies to fight for him for a limited time. But another major advantage that comes with Axii is that it too can affect not one but two other enemies at once. It can also be used to pass Persuasion Checks :D!!!!!

Igni

Igni is an Offensive Sign that, well, blasts Fire...... Nuff said XD!!!! Though technically, Igni had two different Variants. In The Witcher 2, Igni created a Fireball that dealt burning damage. However, Witcher 3 improved on it's capabilities such as making a wave of Fire that burns multiple enemies to a crisp. If upgraded, it can also be a Flamethrower :D!!!!! Or, it can create a ring of fire that can burn foes all around Geralt

The Alternative Upgrade for Igni

Quen

My personal Favorite, Quen creates a Magical Shield that surrounds Geralt. If Upgraded, he can increase the Shields Durability by a substantial amount that can block not just one, but multiple attacks. He can even create a Bubble Shield for superior durability. Though the shields are not invulnerable, they do get the job done on meaning the difference between getting clobbered and simply shrugging off attacks. Another alternative is that whenever the Shield breaks, it unleashes a blast that can push back enemies, leaving them vulnerable to a counter strike.

Yrden

Yrden is actually one of the more unique signs. It can negate Intangibility such as making Ghosts and Wraiths alot easier to damage and even slow down enemies. Because of it's powerful ability to slow down Enemies, it essentially is a Time Dilation technique, but the cool part is that Geralt doesn't become affected. So he actually becomes alot faster than his enemies for a moment :D!!!! Ideal for catching up against faster foes.

Yrden can also be upgraded to become a Trap. Which adds greater flexibility and tactical advantages against foes. Presenting nice surprise attacks, if pulled off successfully.

Utility and Bombs

While Geralt is effective in Combat, he does have his Alchemy Skills being quite effective for his adventures. Infact, his Potions, Oils, Decoctions and Bombs are just as vital to his success and accomplishments as his Weapons and Signs. Now, for the sake of this blog, I wanted to present a Generalized look of the Four Main types of Alchemist Creations that Geralt has used.

Potions

Potions are used for Healing, Stat Boosts, Improved Witcher Capabilities such as Improved Witcher Sense (Coming up) and a Time Slow such as Blizzard. There is also a Specific Potion known as White Honey that completely removes Toxicity, which effectively cures Geralt from Lethal Poisoning.

Decoctions

Unlike Potions, Decoctions are more specialized types of consumables. They provide unique benefits such as greater Attack Potency and stuff like Increased health and Sign Intensity. Overall, Decoctions are more like increasing a Witcher's Capabilities and adding a few tweaks to them.

Oils

Oils coat Geralt's Swords for superior damage to the intended enemy. The main Oil types are

  • Beast Oil- Bears, Wolves etc
  • Hanged Man's Venom- Humans, Elves, Dwarves
  • Vampire Oil- Bruxa and Vampires
  • Draconid Oil- Wyverns, Forktails, Basilisk
  • Cursed Oil- Werewolves, Berserkers, Lubberkin
  • Elementa Oil- Elementals, Dijnn, Gargoyles
  • Insectoid Oil- Kikimores, Arachnaes, Endrega's
  • Ogroid Oil- Trolls, Cyclops, Ice Giants, Nekkers
  • Specter Oil- Wraiths, Banshees, Ghosts
  • Relict Oil- Fiends, Leshens, Chorts, Sylvans
  • Necrophage Oil- Drowners, Hags, Foglets, Rotfiends
  • Hybrid Oil- Griffins, Ekhidna, Erynia, Harpies, Sirens, Succubus

Bombs

Bombs go Boom!!!!!!!!!

Obvious stuff aside, Bombs are actually quite effective for tackling multiple foes at once due to their explosive and sometimes "Haxy" Results.

Numerous bombs such as Grapeshot can pretty much decimate foes, but then you got stuff like Northern Wind, which holds enemies in place by freezing them in Ice, and Dimertium Bombs, which negate Magic..... Ooooooooh super useful :D!!!

There are also Devil's Puff Ball, which creates a Poisonous Cloud that, well, poisons enemies.

Moon Dust that prevents enemies from transforming. So, I guess it stops Dragon Ball characters from going Super Saiyan? I am just "Saiyan" XD!!!!!

Samum that Blinds enemies.

Dancing Star that Produces Fire Blasts that burns enemies to a crisp and finally, Dragon's Dream that released a Cloud that unleashes a Fiery Explosion when ignited by Igni or a Dancing Star Combo

Witcher Sense

Witcher Sense allows Geralt, and other Witcher's, to track down anything via tracks, scent and sound. It is pretty much a perfect way for tracking down the intended target. It also nullifies any chance of stealth because the Sound Waves and Scent can give away the position of the would be ambusher.

Should Geralt check blood stains on a cloth, or smell anything that came from his target, his Witcher Sense simply gives way to their location with pinpoint accuracy. This is essentially a Radar Sense :D!!!

Skills

Geralt vs Renfri

Geralt is by far, one of my favorite characters of all time. Why is that? This guy is LEGENDARY!!!! At least with regards to how skilled he really is :D!!!!

Able to pretty much defeat, well, anyone with both Combat, Tricks, Persuasion and even Riddle solving, Geralt has all the Jack of All Trades type of Stuff that makes him A badass.

Now, hype stuff aside, Geralt is a Master Witcher with skills to track down both Humanoids and Monsters Alike. He is so knowledgeable of the world, he is a living encyclopedia in terms of Lore in the World of Temeria.

Geralt's Sword Skills are also legendary. He use to have a Strong, Fast and Group Style Techniques though eventually, he mixed them up overtime and in the Witcher 3, he finally has a more streamlined but super effective method of "Strong and Fast" attacks :D!!!!

Aside from Gameplay, Geralt's Sword Skills are among the best of the best in the world of Temeria. He actually has very few rivals in terms of Swordsmanship. While Geralt can use other weapon types, his preferred weapons are always his Steel and Silver Swords.

While Geralt is not as fantastic in magic as someone like Yennefer, Triss Merigold, Fringilla and Vlgefortz, Geralt has actually defeated Mages in the past before using clever tactics and his own Combat capabilities.

Of course, Geralt is a wandering adventurer and without his trusty Horse Roach, Geralt might as well still wander around Temeria, just, well, a little lonely at times XD!!!

Geralt and Roach :D!!!!

And finally, Geralt's Alchemy Skills are superb. Able to produce his Alchemist Tools to fight specific foes with specific Potions, Decoctions, Oils and Bombs, Geralt at this point has all the tools he needs to take on anyone he faces :D!!!!!

Feats Achieved by Geralt

As mentioned before in the Skills Section, Geralt is one of my favorite characters of all time. Now, this Witcher has loads of feats that pretty much means a Blog on it's own would list them all. So, I decided to highlight the big feats that Geralt has achieved that were more relevant to the story, and a few others that are particularly noteworthy due to the scope of those feats. Here is a list of "Highlights" for Geralt's Resume.

  • Has officially, and Cleanly, and finally, found the love of his life..... Yennefer of Vengerberg
  • Found Ciri
  • Defeated the raiders of Kaer Morhen, even counter striked Azar and the Professor later in the story
  • Defeated Letho the Assassin of Kings
  • Killed a Kayran.
  • Defeated but spared the Dragon (Optional to kill it but Geralt's true nature prefers to spare it due to respect)
  • Hunted down numerous monstrosities that terrorized Temeria
  • Helped Triss Merigold escape Novigrad's Purge against Sorcerers and Magic Users
  • Rescued Triss Merigold in the Witcher 2.
  •  Defeated Gaunter O'Dimm, the single most powerful entity in The Witcher Series, not by Combat, but by a game of riddles. Thus, Freeing Olgierd Von Everec's Soul.
  • Assisted Shani with her problems such as helping out with medical research and even hunt down a huge Frog Monster that was actually a Prince..... huh XD!!!
  • Defeat a Dijnn...... That's right!!! Geralt did defeat a entity that literally can grant wishes. Though Yennefer did help out but still, what a monumental feat
  •  Defeated the Wild Hunt.
  • Killed the Grandmaster............ Not the Who Would Win Series Creator I swear XD!!!
  • Defeated Renfri
  • Defeated Dettlaff the Vampire.
  • Has Dandelion as a loyal companion, who forever will be Geralt's biggest fan XD!!!!
  • Has womanized most of the female cast. While Yennefer technically is the Canon love interest, you can pretty much let Geralt go with anyone XD!!! Triss Merigold in my opinion would be ideal as a solid alternative, if not more so since she actually appeared in all 3 of the main Witcher Games while Yennefer only appeared in the Witcher 3.

Geralt and Triss Merigold moment <3!!!

  • Voiced by Doug Cockle. Damn what a performance :D!!!!!!
  • Played by Henry Cavill in the TV Series :D!!!!!
  • Geralt of Rivia..... My favorite Guy in fiction :D!!!!!! Seriously though, Geralt is legendary and wow, what a deep, charismatic, complex and well rounded character :D!!!

Say what you will, the Witcher games are a masterpiece but, The Witcher 3.... 11/10.

Simply put, the Best Open World Game ever made, Has Geralt, Yennefer, Triss, Vesemir, Zoltan, Ciri, Dandelion, The Wild Hunt, Gaunter O'Dimm, Supporting Characters, the World, the Lore, the Story, the Godlike Soundtrack and my goodness, the Visuals!!!! Ahhh now I want to replay the Witcher 3 again hahahahahahahahhahahah

Weaknesses

Despite my huge admiration for Geralt of Rivia, unfortunately, he isn't that difficult to defeat in terms of overall combat. While extremely skilled and very efficient, Geralt does have numerous drawbacks.

Firstly, Geralt is by all intents and purposes, a Genetically enhanced human. Granted, he is stronger than a regular human, but he isn't more resistant to attacks that can still one shot him if given the chance.

Despite his Resistances to damage types, Geralt still suffers from those damage types. Simply put, he is harmed by all means of damage.

While his Signs are powerful, they are still limited to what they can do. While upgraded they are versatile, keep in mind that Geralt cannot use multiple Sign Upgrades for the same type at once. For Instance, he cannot use both a Flamethrower Igni with the 360 Upgrade all at once. He can "Do both" in one scenario at least but the idea is that he cannot do two techniques all at once. This could lead to Geralt getting vulnerable in the middle of a fight that can give his enemy an opportunity to strike at him.

Also, Quen, while absolutely useful, is still breakable by sufficient force. It can actually be quite a hindrance for Geralt since once the shield is broken, he has to reuse Quen once more, which runs on a cooldown, just like ALL of his Signs. Which adds even more flaws to his Sign capabilities.

Also, Geralt's achievements with hunting down his foes required extensive prep time. Infact, his accomplishments are all thanks to his encyclopedic knowledge of Temeria's Lore and Monsters by reading up Bestiary facts from his time in training or leisure. So if Geralt was to face someone who he has no knowledge of fighting before, he is going to be surprised.

Finally, Toxicity. While this sounds like it can be contained, if Geralt overloads his Toxicity Level, he will die. Infact, Geralt's Toxicity is quite a scary factor since that the Potions and Decoctions that Geralt uses require space of that Toxicity Bar to be used. He can remove Toxicity with White Honey, but that also removes the Potion and Decoction Effects......... a double edged sword. You lose a Death's Door but also lose your Benefits :(

However despite his flaws, Geralt is a legit badass and a Legendary Witcher :D!!!!!! Toss your Coin to your Witcher!!!!!

Talion the Gravewalker (Spoilers)

Talion is the main protagonist of both Middle-Earth Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War.

Hailing from Rhovanion but relocated to Gondor, Talion is a Ranger that rose through the ranks to eventually become a Captain. He was then punished later on for killing a nobleman in defense of his wife (Chris Rock vs Will Smith Vibes XD!!!!) but instead of Execution, Talion was banished to the Black Gate by a more open minded Judge. Life at the Black Gate proved boring and well, nothing very special. Talion lived with his family relatively peacefully..... That was until the forces of Sauron finally came back to Middle-Earth for a George Hancock moment.

You see, Talion's Wife and Son were officially murdered by Sauron's Forces, even Talion was murdered...... The End XD!!!!!!

That's a-

EXCUSE ME!!!!!!!

Oh wait hahahahahahha!!!! That was not the end XD!!!!

Talion, despite being "Murdered" wasn't truly dead, he was on limbo between the world of the living and dead and, eventually was given a chance of vengeance against his murderers thanks to a deal made by the Legendary Elven Smith Celebrimbor.

Talion and Celebrimbor became one, and embarked on an epic quest to defeat the Forces of Sauron through a Path of Vengeance and Pride. Eventually, Talion and Celebrimbor....... kinda went on a twist to their journey. You see, they eventually created a special ring that could match Sauron's One Ring.

The New Ring

With this new ring, both Talion and Celebrimbor could finally defeat Sauron....... After actually taking it back from Shelob and then doing some funny deeds, then using the ring once more..... Talion and Celebri-

Oh..............

 ......... Damn that was-

Isildur's Ring!!!!!

Oh I see, so I guess Talion not only was betrayed by Celebrimbor, he almost died until Isildur's Ring, which somehow was still at that same spot, became his saving grace against Death. Which, well......

Talion, now a "Ranger Necromancer"

Wow, Talion really has the same amount of "Transformations" as Goku XD!!!! Does he have any.......

Talion is now a Nazgul

....... Seriously? What is this? Middle-Earth the Transformation of Talion XD!!!!!

Eventually, Talion's Journey ends after the One Ring was Destroyed. This also ended up with Talion's demise after being blasted by one of Mount Doom's  Meteors

George Hancock...... XD!!!!!

That's basically a generalized background of Talion's Backstory. Now, let's see what this legendary Undead Ranger is capable of.

Physical Stats

Talion is one of the most interesting characters in terms of Stats. What is really funny here is that Talion is essentially "Two at once" He has Celebrimbor and later in his story, his own Wraith, that act as his back up for numerous feats of Physical Stats. Here are the list of feats for Strength, Speed and Durability

Strength

  • Lifted Caragors above his shoulders, which weighs more than a Bengal Tiger, which are 200-260kg of Weight. Adding Saddles and additional Weight, The Caragors are likely over 300kgs consistently
  • Can smash Uruk-Hai Wooden Shields
  • Can Slash through and even Pierce Thick Armor of Olog Hai and Uruk Hai.
  • Can slice Graug Skin, which is much thicker than Armor
  • Speaking of Graugs, Talion can also slice up Elemental Graugs, which generally have thicker armor than the Standard Graug, the Poison Graug has "Wooden Skin". Ooof.
  • Can parry attacks from Uruk-Hai, who are superior in Strength compared to regular humans and Elves.
  • Celebrimbor has fought Sauron, which ends up giving him a significant feat such as slicing up Sauron in 1v1 combat :D!!!!!! Sauron's Armor is durable enough to take multiple blasts of Elven Magic by both Eltariel and Celebrimbor, which can knock back multiple Uruks at once.

Speed

  • Can Teleport.......... I am dead Serious. Talion can literally Teleport.......
  • Combat Speed wise, can fight at Faster than the Eye can Track Speeds
  • While in the Air, Talion can consume Focus in order to "Slow down Time"
  • Parried Instant Speed Strikes from Nazgul.
  • Using Shadow Strike, Talion can pretty much travel across large areas in just under a minute, even only 10 seconds.
  • Celebrimbor can fight on par with Sauron, who also can teleport. You know, at this point, it would be foolish to limit both Talion and Celebrimbor's Speed XD!!!!!
  • Can actually block multiple strikes at once thanks to the Celebrimbor/Wraith Counter technique.

The Two Person army XD!!!

  • With Last Chance, Talion can block Crossbow bolts and Thrown Weapons at point blank range

Durability

  • Can take Slashing and Bludgeoning Strikes from Uruks and Olog Hai
  • Can survive multiple Point Blank Grog Explosions to the face
  • Has been Poisoned, Burned, Even Cursed and Still fight on. Badass :D!!!!
  • Was crushed by Graug strikes.
  • Took strikes from Tar Goroth, who is a Balrog................ Yep. That pretty much cements Talion's Durability to around City Level. That is not including the Meteor Showers, which can elevate that Durability level to Mountain Level at most. After all, Balrog's can decimate Armies and Destroy Mountains.
  • Celebrimbor took Strikes from Sauron, who can do this......

  • Was able to survive the Witch King's Mace Strikes. Which can smash through Shields and Armor

Weaponry

Talion's Weaponry is actually basic, but extremely effective. Here are the Main Weapons used by The Gravewalker

Swords

Talion's Signature weapon is the Sword. Believe or not, Talion has used numerous Swords over the course of his Games but they are simply consistent with Capabilities, Slashing, Stabbing, Some Cool Skills, George Hancock dies from one of them, wala :D!!!!

Daggers

Daggers are actually extremely efficient for Stealth and also Combat. Infact, they are ideal for Executions, which are finishers that can severely damage or outright kill Uruks and Olog Hai. Daggers can also be used for Brutalize Strikes, which can cause terror amongst a group of Uruks and Olog Hai

Bows

Talion and Celebrimbor can use Bows for Superior Ranged Combat. What is actually unique though is that the Bows themselves are only seen by specific individuals. Thus, it is mostly "Invisible" to the Naked Eye ;)

Of course, those with Keen Senses, or even able to see Wraiths and such can see the Bow and ultimately react far better than the standard Uruk and Olog Hai XD!!!!

Longbows in particular can pierce through multiple enemies in a Straight Line.

Hammers

You would think Hammers are Melee Focused Weapons, though Talion and Celebrimbor somehow are skilled enough to throw them with such accuracy, they can snipe enemies from large distances with pinpoint precision. If aimed at the head, Hammers cause an explosion that knocks back multiple foes in a Area of Effect.

Glaive

The Glaive is a large Polearm that is ideal for Crowd Control. Superior Sweeping Strikes, it is also strong enough to break through Shields and even knock down multiple Uruk's At Once.

 Armor and Cloak

While it sounds funny at first, Both Talion's Armor and Cloak provide Certain Benefits. Armor In particular increases Health and Durability while The Cloak increased Stealth capabilities and even Provides harder detection. Super Neat :D!!!!

 The New Ring

Crafted by Celebrimbor and Talion, The New Ring provides special abilities that "Tip the Balance of Battle".

It also became a life  force for Talion, who, without it, would die slowly from his Wounds he had suffered that killed him earlier in the story. Still, once Talion wears the New Ring, Celebrimbor becomes one with his own Soul and the two of them fight alongside each other, with a few banters here and there.

 Isildur's Ring

After Celebrimbor's Betrayal, Talion was on Death's Door. That was until he saw Isildur's ring laying beside him, thus, he managed to take the Ring and wear it to stay alive and was granted the Power of Necromancy.

Skill Trees and Abilities

Talion has many abilities due to his connection with Celebrimbor. Here is a list of Skill Trees and  Ability Types used by The Gravewalker

Combat: Combat is a skill tree that focuses on, well, Combat. Notable skills include Ground Executions, Faster Might Gained to unleash Executions, Perfect Counters that instantly kill the attackers when upgraded, Critical Strikes. Generally, Talion can modify these skills further though these are the standard versions of the abilities.

Predator: This Skill Tree focuses on Stealth and Assassination. Notable abilities include , Brutalize that causes Terror amongst groups of enemies, Elven Agility for Superior Travel Speed, Wraith Chain, which allows both Talion and Celebrimbor/Wraith to kill multiple enemies at once in Stealth, or even Execute/Drain at once during combat. Oh, and Talion can put Poison in Grog Barrels from a Distance so when they detonate, they do not just explode, they produce a gas cloud that is lethal, poisoning victims until they die.

Ranged: This Skill Tree not only focuses on Ranged Attacks (Obviously), it also provides special abilities that go with those Ranged attacks such as Freeze Pin to hold enemies in place, Shadow Strike that is a Teleporting Stealth Kill, Mighty Shot that unleashes a blast that can decimate groups of enemies, even Bird of Prey, which slows down Time when Talion and Celebrimbor are in mid air and using a Bow or a Hammer..

Wraith: The most unique skill tree of the Bunch, Wraith Abilities are more Supernatural and Fantastical such as Elven Light, which allows Talion to Smash the Ground, creating a blinding light that, well, blinds all foes around him. If upgraded, it can also create a Fiery Blast, Poisonous Cloud or an Ice Blast to Freeze Foes in place.

Speaking of Frost, Ice Storm is actually a JoJo Reference........... Yep XD!!!

Talion's Version of "ORA ORA ORA!!!!"

WRRRRRYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There is also Consume, which allows Talion to Drain his enemy and regain Health, even Possess them (Coming up)

Mounted: Mounted is obviously about Riding the Three Creatures of this list. Which are:

Caragors

Caragors are large Warg-like creatures that are native to Mordor. Their skin however are much more rough than regular Wargs and believe it or not, Caragors are the Top Predators of Mordor due to hunting in packs and also being incredibly stealthy :D!!!

There is also another Variant known as a Dire Caragor, which basically has the same capabilities except it is Albino and also the Leader of a Pack.

Graugs

Graugs are colossal beasts with tremendous Power and Hunger. They can throw large Boulders and smash foes with their huge fists and feet. There are, believe it or not, Elemental Versions of Graugs.

Fire Graugs Breath Fire while Poison Graugs breath out, well, Poison XD!!!! Very scary but absolutely cool!!!!

Fire Drakes

Fire Drakes......... What can I say, they are the most powerful creature Talion has ridden and their mobility is unmatched since, they can fly. Fire Drakes are also quite devastating with their Fire Breath. Though there is a Poisonous Variant that uses Poison Breath that reminds me of the Green Dragon in Dungeons and Dragons XD!!!! Ironic.

Back to the Mounted Skill Tree, there is an ability that Talion can use that Calls his Mount. He can call either a Caragor, Graug or even a Fire Drake, anywhere and any time. (Minas Morgul limited the choices to just Caragors and Graug, but since that is more of a Gameplay mechanic and nothing else, that limitation doesn't really apply to a random encounter, so Calling a Fire Drake is still valid)

Story: The Final Skill Tree is more of a "Shonen Jump Styled Narrative" Ability tree. You see, Talion gains more Abilities as the Story progressed and wala. Bingo. Hence the name :D!!!

Talion can Call Followers, even Branded Captains anywhere, anytime. Though, they have to be in a specific region that they reside in to actually reach Talion, but not to panic, Talion can simply transport his Comrades to his own location with the Garrison Menu and a Relocation token.

Talion also can Shadow Stride, which is a mid air double Jump. and of course, Dominate, which means.....

Domination

Domination is the result of Celebrimbor and Talion branding his foes. Though they are seen branding Uruks, Olog Hai and Nazgul, even Sauron, it is entirely likely this Brand Technique will work on ALL living and other supernatural Beings, meaning, nobody is truly safe from being Mind Controlled.

While individuals have resisted being possessed before, there is a twist. should one actually resist being mind controlled, Celebrimbor and Talion can actually Shame them, making them significantly weaker. Sometimes when this happens, the victim actually goes maniacal and gets stronger at the cost of their sanity, even losing speech. But the real crunch is that shaming Mind Resistant foes removes that Resistance to being Mind Controlled. That's right, even Mind Control Immunity would be utterly countered and removed thanks to the Shame Option!!!!!!

Domination ultimately allows Talion to build up an Army of Orcs and Olog Hai, he evenutally managed to invade Strongholds and Fortresses thanks to this ability alone. Along with clever tactics of course hahahah.

Elven Rage

Elven Rage is a Trump Card that involves Talion and Celebrimbor "Multiplying" and becoming stronger and faster.... even Slow down Time. Remember that JoJo Reference? Here is another!!!!!!

Once unleashed, Talion and Celebrimbor's attacks are much more dangerous and their attack speed skyrockets due to the Time Slow's Effects. The Execution Moves are also Ranged attacks. It gets even worse when you realize, those who cannot see Celebrimbor are simply outright done for. Badass!!!!

When Elven Rage ends, it unleashes a blast that stuns foes. However, an Upgraded Blast can produce Fire, Poison or Frost. Ooof that's gotta sting.

Ringwraith

After Celebrimbor's Betrayal, and Talion possessing Isildur's Ring, instead of Elven Rage, he can now use Necromancy to summon Gondorian Wights to fight for him. This ability actually could be seen as the superior alternative because of the numeric advantage and backed up by the fact that the Revenants can also use Fire, Poison, even Curse Weapons to double damage their foes. Badass :D

Raise Dead

While Ringwraith grants a powerful trump card with the Wights, Talion does have Raise Dead, which makes things alot easier for him to control the battlefield by, well, Raising the Dead to fight for him!

Upgraded, he can ressurect Olog-Hai, Ghuls and Caragors, or even Dead Captains and Dead Olog-Hai Captains.  That's Death Defying XD!!!!

 Wraith World

Wraith World allows Talion to see beyond his own Sight and detect enemies and intended targets from afar. It is also used to detect footprints and bloodstains that are related to his mission at hand. Because of this, it also negates stealth and while Ambush is still a thing, it would be very difficult to outright surprise Talion because of Wraith World.

Combat Styles and Tactics

Talion is one of the coolest characters I ever known. This guy is both a Superb Melee and Ranged Combatant but it is with Celebrimbor and later, his own Wraith, that boosts his Combat Potential by up to Eleven.

But most importantly, Talion's Tactics are generally more about knowing his enemy beforehand. Infact, he usually interrogates Uruks for information on Specific Captains and Warchiefs to find their weaknesses and exploit them, giving Talion all the prep time he needs before the fight even started.

Also, Talion's Stealth is unmatched. Even Solid Snake and Batman need to take notes from someone who literally teleports for an instant kill with Shadow Strike.

Feats for Talion the Gravewalker

Talion may have only Two Games to his name but wow, what a resume. Here is a list of feats achieved by the Gravewalker.

  • Has officially, and cleanly, avenged his own death and his family's murder.
  • Helped Celebrimbor bring back his memories
  • Protected Gollum numerous times in exchange for Information.
  • Recovered all of Shelob's Memories
  • Conquered a Vast Portion of Middle-Earth
  • Helped Carnan defeat Tar Goroth the Balrog
  • Killed the Necromancer, who also tried to bring back Tar Goroth but no, Talion did put an end to his plans
  • Took back Nurnen despite betrayal from Bruz.
  • Ratbag........... I mean..... look at him XD!!!

RATBAG!!!! The Best offense is a Good Offense!!!

  • Celebrimbor Defeated Sauron in Melee combat.
  • Talion defeated key members of the Nazgul who are Helm Hammerhand, Isildur and Suladan
  • Talion defeated the Witch King!!!!
  • Talion is voiced by Troy Baker
  • The Shadow Games are the best Lord of the Rings games by far :D!!!!! Charismatic Uruks and Olog-Hai though Talion alone seals the deal. Amazing character
  • Finally, Talion reunited with his family in the afterlife

Talion walking into the Light. Finally found Peace :D

Weaknesses

Despite Talion's Feats and Capabilities, he isn't quite that powerful. Infact, many times against the stronger foes of Middle-Earth, Talion actually never killed them cleanly. He has "won" Those fights but he never finished the job. With regards to Tar Goroth, Talion had help from Carnan who actually finished the Job on behalf of Talion and Celebrimbor.

And remember I said that Celebrimbor defeated Sauron? He actually failed to finish the job. He even had a bit of help from Eltariel but even that was not enough. Sauron actually merged with Celebrimbor's body to become one entity..... Even the Eye of Sauron contained Celebrimbor's Essence..... Until the One Ring was finally destroyed by Frodo and a Dancing Gollum.

Which also means, by the end of his story, Talion is dead. He succumbed to the Dark Side and became a Nazgul, only to be crushed by Mordor's Meteor.

Talion finally joins the Witch King and Nazgul.

Welcome Talion. Located in the Middle

I have the Need. The Need for Speed!!!!

Whoops. Time for a Crash Landing XD!!!

Finally, Talion can still die to Uruks, Olog-Hai, Caragors, anything lethal. While he has a Last Chance, some enemies nullify that Last Chance and have "No Chance" Meaning, they can finish off Talion regardless of how many attempts Talion has.

But one of the more critical factors is that, should someone cut off Talion's Ring Finger, or his entire hand, he will lose his connection to Celebrimbor/Wraith and will slowly die. That's because The New Ring and Isildur's Ring are Life Vessels for Talion. It's like taking away a Life Support System.

However, Despite his faults, Talion is an amazing and badass character. What a tragic but ultimately, happy story that ended on quite a uplifting note :D!!!! Let's look at that image one more time!!!

That's Better :D!!!!

Summary

Geralt of Rivia

Advantages

  • More Experience with Sword Skills. That is until you factor in Celebrimbor
  • Much wider options of Utility and Consumables that evens the game
  • Axii Theoretically can work on Talion
  • Yrden can actually let Geralt see Celebrimbor/Talion's Wraith
  • Has both the Steel and Silver Sword both of Which can be very helpful against Talion and Celebrimbor/Talion's Wraith
  • Frozen Aard could be quite a showstopper
  • Can counter Talion's Brand Attempts by simply using Aard to push him back.
  • Has fought foes who have very similar capabilities to Talion and Celebrimbor and actually prevailed
  • Specter, Hanged Man's Venom, Beast, Draconid and Ogroid Oil are the Five main Oils for Geralt to use for this fight in order to deal double damage and thankfully, Geralt has Options to kill Talion, Celebrimbor and their Minions and Mounts.
  • While Talion is a great character, Geralt will always be more refined and cooler :D
  • Yennefer and Triss man..... Ooof :D!!!

Disadvantages

  • Stats are not as impressive.
  • Talion can teleport............ Yeah, quite a showstopper
  • While Geralt is a Master Swordsman, Celebrimbor alone is much older and just as, if not more skilled than Geralt
  • Talion can summon his followers and his Mounts. Geralt will be overwhelmed by the large numeric advantage.
  • Should Talion successfuly Branded Geralt, he is under Talion's Control until Talion can execute him with no fear of retaliation.
  • Has no real counter to the Time Slow capabilities that both Talion and Celebrimbor have.
  • Talion's Necromancy Skills will allow not only more of a numeric advantage, but the Wights can overpower Geralt thanks to Fire, Poison and Cursed Weaponry, which doubles damage against the intended target.
  • Can be frozen in place by Ice Storm, giving out Dio vs Alucard Vibes.
  • Fire Drakes are gonna prove lethal to Geralt. Assuming he doesn't have  a way to first knock them down with his Crossbow.
  • Graugs are...... Oof XD!!!
  • No JoJo References Sadly

Talion the Gravewalker

Advantages

  • More Impressive Stats
  • Teleportation does hinder Geralt's Chances to a T
  • Despite Talion being outmatched by Geralt's Swordsmanship, Celebrimbor has things to say about that
  • Talion's Minions and Mounts give him a huge numeric advantage
  • If Talion successfully Branded Geralt, that's a instant win since Geralt would now be under Talion's Control and can be finished off with an execution with no retaliation.
  • The Bird of Prey and Elven Rage Time Slow Abilities Widen the Speed gap substantially.
  • Even without Celebrimbor, Talion's Necromancy Skills such as Ringwraith and Raise Dead are gonna be Trump Cards on their own.
  • Dio vs Alucard Vibes..... Ice Storm!!!! and then WRRRYYYYY!!!!!! (Is it gonna happen?)
  • The Fire Drake alone is giving Talion superior mobility and a Flame Breath. It simply gives Talion a near perfect scenario of being out of range. That is if Geralt doesn't use his Crossbow to knock down the Fire Drake
  • The Graug........ Yep XD!!!!
  • More JoJo References

Disadvantages

  • Talion alone isn't as skilled as Geralt in terms of Swordsmanship
  • Far less Utility and Consumables
  • Axii Sign can work on Talion
  • Yrden allows Geralt to see both Celebrimbor and Talion's Wraith
  • The Steel and Silver Sword are gonna harm both talion and Celebrimbor/Talion's Wraith
  • Frozen Aard  can stop Talion's teleportation
  • While Talion can Brand Geralt, he has to first reach him but Geralt can use Aard to push him and Celebrimbor back anyway
  • Despite Talion and Celebrimbor's Capabilities, Geralt has fought foes with very similar capabilities before such as Wraiths and Ghosts and even the Wild Hunt.
  • Geralt does have numerous Oils that can severely harm Talion, Celebrimbor/Wraith, Minions and Mounts.
  • As much as I really like Talion, Geralt is much cooler and full of charisma
  • Talion's beautiful Wife vs Yennefer and Triss........... No Contest XD!!!!

The Verdict

By far the best match up of Season 6 so far, Geralt vs Talion has been an epic time to research. Both of these characters are simply amazing and while I do prefer Geralt more, bear in mind, Bias is out of the window for the Verdict Section.

Now that is out of the way, let's look at who finally wins :D!!!

Stats wise, I believe this is Talion's edge simply because he has achieved more Superhuman feats. While Geralt is also Superhuman, Talion has Faster Attack Speed, Has greater Durability such as taking barrel explosions to the face and survive, even took swipes from the Balrog...... Oof, I think that speaks volumes. Also, Talion is supported by Celebrimbor and later, his own Wraith, which adds more tweaks to his Physical Stats. So really, this is basically 2 Superhumans vs 1 Superhuman in the end.

However, Geralt isn't that far behind. The Guy did slice a Crossbow bolt and can block numerous projectiles shot at him before. Some of them were at point blank. Added that Geralt also can pierce very tough materials such as Carapaces and Armor, he isn't truly outclassed....... Until Talion's teleportation comes and wow, what a difference.

Teleportation is something Geralt doesn't match in terms of his own physical capabilities. But, he does have ways to counter-act that. He has Yrden, which slows down his enemies who get close to him. He also has Northern Wind, a Bomb that freezes foes in place. Ooooh, this is getting great!!! Also, Frozen Aard can stop Talion and Celebrimbor in place, leaving them vulnerable..... Or will it?

While Geralt can freeze them in place, Talion and Celebrimbor could also shoot their Bow or throw their Hammer at Geralt. Which are already invisible to Geralt's Sight unless Yrden is still in place. Still, this also gives out one cool trick for Talion. Because they use Shadow Strike, they can break out of the Ice and then attack Geralt once again. returning their mobility back :D!!!

Despite this, Geralt still has tricks. He has Quen, which gives Geralt a personal magical shield to save him from lethal strikes for a moment. It also means Talion and Celebrimbor will have to work harder to break through Geralt's Defenses. How can they achieve this? Well.........

Its Time to Play the Game Geralt!!!!!

You would think this sounds like a Cheat right? Well, that's how Talion and Celebrimbor also fight. They can call their followers and their mounted creatures anywhere, anytime. That's simply how the capabilities work here.

With the numeric advantage, Geralt is fighting an army of Uruks, Olog-Hai, Caragors, A Graug and a Fire Drake. Backed up by Talion and Celebrimbor/Wraith, he is literally out of this fight......... Until you realize that Geralt can use Axii to turn some of Talion's minions against him.

This gets very interesting. Now that Axii becomes another factor into this fight, Geralt can use it to stun the minions of Talion and stun the Drake, Graug and Caragors. This sounds quite like a saving grace indeed. Though because Axii isn't shown to control an army at once, Geralt has to first target the stronger minions to stun them and finish them off. He would likely achieve this by using it on Talion...... And yes, it can work...... It "CAN!!!" if Geralt pulls it off.

With Talion's Superior Teleportation, It's gonna be very hard for Geralt to catch him in order for Axii to be used. Though, even without Axii, Geralt has bombs that can prove useful against Talion's Army such as Grapeshot and Devil's Puff Ball. So those can give Geralt a fighting Chance.

Against the Drakes, Geralt does have Explosive Bolts that can blow them out in the Air, bringing them down to the Ground and a Draconid Coated Silver Blade would make short work of them. And the Graug? Well Geralt could just slide under the Graug and slice up it's legs with his Silver Sword, ultimately killing it and since Geralt did face Cyclops and Ice Giants before, A Graug would ultimately suffer the same drawback with lower mobility than Geralt. So really, Geralt is looking like he can counter The Drakes and Graug. What about Caragors? Yes as well. Caragors are tough but they too can be killed quite easily by Geralt's Beast Oil Coated Blades that would make short work of them. Or, using the Crossbow, Geralt can simply shoot them down one at a time.

Now, all that sounds great and all, but, what is going on? Well, Geralt would be too busy focusing on Talion's Minions and Mounts and not Talion himself, who at this point in the fight, is using Stealth to finally assassinate Geralt from behind and wala. Hah!!!!!! Talion would win this fight.

Even though Geralt can kill Talion's Minions, Talion also has Necromancy Abilities that "Raises the Dead" Meaning that he can replenish his Numbers back up again. Though, he cannot ressurect Drakes or Graugs, he still has the Necromancy skills to clinch a victory over the Witcher.

Ultimately, there are other factors such as Elven Rage, Ringwraith to summon Wights. And the fact that Talion simply has the Tactics to Counter Geralt's Capabilites make it highly unlikely that Geralt is gonna defeat Talion in combat. But one of the best ways for Talion to win is if he snuck up on Geralt and branded him, who doesn't have any form of Mental Mind Hax resistances to begin with. So Geralt is gonna be under Talion's Control and be free of Execution........ Or just serve Talion with unquestionable loyalty.

But what about Witcher's Sense? Doesn't that nullify sneak up attacks? True, but because Geralt is facing a Teleporter, Talion already had the Speed to surprise Geralt to the point that he is dead before anything happened. Also, again, Geralt would be too busy fighting Talion's Forces while Talion is out hiding, waiting for an opportunity to land that final blow. Cheap? Yes. In character for Talion? Absolutely!!!!!

Finally, the real kill shot has to be this........

MUDA MUDA MUDA MUDA MUDA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yep.... JoJo Reference once again XD!!!!
