Season 6: Tengen Uzui (Kimetsu No Yaiba/Demon Slayer) vs Wolf (Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice)

Greetings and Welcome to another edition of my Who Would Win Series and it's going to be a showdown between Tengen Uzui from Kimetsu No Yaiba/Demon Slayer vs Wolf from Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.

This blog is gonna contain major spoilers for both combatants so if you wish to avoid them, either read up the manga of Demon Slayer and Play Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, or, you can just read what happens anyway XD!!! (It's optional but the point of my blogs is to give the reader a sense of what the characters and their stories are presented)

Tengen's info is primarily composited from the Manga and Anime series. Infact, he is one of the easiest combatants of my series to research since his prime time was a single arc which is the "Entertainment District Arc" of Demon Slayer.

As for Wolf, because he only has one game to his name, he too is one of the easiest characters to analyze. However, as said before, there will be major spoilers of Sekiro.

Final Warning here. Okay, are you alright? You want to continue? Let's do it then :D!!!

As usual, we will look into the Stats, Weapons, Techniques, Skills, Abilities, Utility, Feats and Weaknesses and finally, who I personally believe will win.

Without further ado, let's begin

Tengen Uzui

Tengen Uzui is the Sound Hashira of the Demon Corps and one of the supporting characters of Demon Slayer.

Born into a Shinobi clan, Tengen was one child of nine siblings. You would think his story is about "Love, Family, Peace" hahahahahahhahah..... No

Shinobi training in the clan was tough.... Dangerously Tough. So much so, Three of Tengen's Siblings died from being too weak and unable to continue training via exhaustion or even lethal wounds. Infact, one of the worst of the tests is masking the trainees into killing their own siblings without them knowing.

Tengen somehow figured out the trick to this dirty plan and, despite killing two of his siblings with a mask, still somehow managed to continue training. The whole experience became so depressing, Tengen only had one younger brother left in the clan.

However, Tengen eventually left the clan with his wife. Tengen's Family followed a tradition of polygyny, which meant by the time Tengen was 15, he must have three wives which, are.....

Tengen Uzui and the Three Divas XD!!!!!!!

Though this sounds like Tengen had a smoother ride, hahahaha, this guy still had a while to get there. While out of the Uzui Clan, Tengen gave his three wives, Suma, Makio and Hinatasuru, advice to "Look after yourselves before the mission".

What a great husb- (He eventually had formed a habit of saying he was going to hell). Which......well, that meant his wives took it emotionally (Suma actually bit him.... really? XD!!!!)

Eventually, Tengen and his three divas met up with Kagaya Ubuyashiki and ended up joining the Demon Slayer Corps, an organization with a simple goal in mind: Exterminate Demons.

Tengen climbed up the ranks and eventually earned the title of the "Sound Hashira". Ultimately, Tengen met best brother in fiction Tanjiro Kamado, who was on a epic quest to cure "Best Adorable Sister" Nezuko, who became a demon.

Despite the skepticism of Tengen and other Hashira, Tanjiro and Nezuko proved to be quite efficient and trustworthy to the point that they were spared. In fact, Tanjiro and Nezuko and two other Demon Slayers, Zenitsu Agatsuma and Inosuke Hashibira joined Tengen's quest to "Rescue his wives" from the clutches of an evil Demon in the "Entertainment District". They succeeded, and Tengen finally reunited with his three divas and had a lovely moment.... With, well, I'll get to the results later in the blog ;)

This is actually the general background of Tengen Uzui. Let's look at what the Sound Hashira can do.

Physical Capabilities

By all intents and purposes, Tengen's Physical Capabilities are impressive. Here is a rundown of Tengen's Stats for Strength, Speed and Durability

Strength

  • In an arm wrestling competition, Tengen Uzui placed second out of Nine Hashira. He was outmatched by Gyomei Himejima, the same guy who can cause tremors in the ground with his "Flail and Axe Combo". In the case of Tengen, he may not be able to cause tremors to the ground. But.....
  • Tengen did dig a huge hole in the ground and eventually rescued Inosuke, Zenitsu, Makio and Suma from underground. The feat itself is amazing, considering Tengen dug this hole much more quickly than Eight Diggers would in an hour..... Tengen Performed it in only a couple of minutes.
  • Can carry Aoi Kanzaki and Naho Takada at once on each arm with no effort.

................

.................

(Goes outside for about 20 minutes)

Moving on.

  • Would be superior to a Novice level Tanjiro, who managed to slice a boulder.
  • Blocked blows from Gyutaro's Blood Scythe's. For Reference, Demons in the Upper Moon Class, in case of Gyutaro, an Upper Six, are capable of performing enormous feats of Strength. Demons below the Upper Moon Class are still capable of causing tremors in the ground.

Speed

  • Is so fast, he literally "Teleports".
  • Decapitated Daki's Head before she knew what happened. Daki is able to perceive Faster than Sound and Lightning Speeds. For Tengen to somehow bypass her perception, proves just how insanely fast he really is.
  • Can travel across the Entertainment District in a couple of minutes.
  • Blocked 90% of Gyutaro's Attacks which again, are performed by a Upper Moon Demon. Speed Reference wise, there was a time in the Mugen Train Arc, when Akaza, Third in the Twelve Kizuki ranking, managed to outsped Rengoku, who was another Hashira. That said, the reason this applies to Gyutaro who, while lower ranked than Akaza, is still not a far fetched gap considering the general idea is that Upper Rank Demons can fight at Lightning Speeds.
  • Superior to Zenitsu Agatsuma's Thunder Breathing First Form Feats, which, well, are literally Lightning Speed casually.
  • Kept up against Gyutaro with just one Arm......... Esdeath vibes!!!!

Durability

  • Comparable to most Demon Slayers, who have survived being smashed across buildings and survive
  • Realistically, Tengen can withstand his own Physical Force being directed back at him. As Mentioned in the Strength Section, Tengen created a huge hole in the ground to rescue Suma, Makio, Inosuke and Zenitsu.
  • Kept fighting Gyutaro despite suffering horrific injuries such as his arm being amputated.

Nichirin Cleavers

Tengen's Iconic Weapons, the Nichirin Cleavers are, simply put "Bladed Nunchucks".

However, the Nichirin Cleavers are unique in that they are forged with special materials that are specifically designed to kill Demons, who are otherwise unkillable to conventional damage.

That doesn't mean that Nichirin Weapons are specialized against Demons, they are still capable of killing, well, anything because, well, they are weapons after all XD!!!

Back to the point at hand, The Nichirin Cleavers actually have one of the coolest aspects for it's efficiency for combat. You see, they pack "Explosive" Damage, which is quite badass considering that the Explosive Damage is comparable to a Hand held grenade blast.... That is, if they were swung once.

Since Tengen is very strong and very fast, you might as well watch this to judge the Cleaver's Damage output.....

Yeah...... I think these Cleavers are able to destroy a building with just a few slashes.

Overall, The Cleavers are Explosive and Flashy. Fitting for Tengen's Personality XD!!!!

Explosive Beads

Tengen has Explosive Beads that amp up the Explosive Results by slicing these beads with his Cleavers. The Explosions themselves are powerful enough to level a building.

Kunai

The Kunai is another neat addition for Tengen's Arsenal. They can be used for Melee combat but are more efficient as a thrown projectile.

Tengen's Wives used Kunai that were poison tipped to sterilize a Demon's Regenerative body. Very efficient.

Sound Breathing Techniques

While Tengen is a beast in Combat, it is with his Sound Breathing Techniques that make him a legend.

Tengen actually created Sound Breathing for his own style, and it is also exceptionally powerful. Sound Breathing is a perfect combo thanks Tengen's Experience as a Shinobi. You see, Tengen can use Echolocation for a radar sense that is ideal for pinpointing locations, allies and even enemies. This means, using Sound Breathing, it is pretty much impossible to sneak up on Tengen for a surprise attack.

As for Combat, here are the Sound Breathing Techniques Tengen has used.

First Form "Roar": Tengen simply raises his cleavers above his head and then smashes the ground, which creates an explosion that is as loud as Thunder. This attack quite dangerous, as the sheer force can kill a human.

Fourth Form "Constant Resounding Slashes": Tengen holds his Cleavers apart and spins them rapidly in sync with the explosive results from their slashes. Because of the explosive effects, Tengen can block attacks with superior defensive aspects such as greater Force mitigation and rebounded force towards the attacker.

Fifth Form "String Performance": Tengen holds one of his cleavers with a reverse grip and spins the other using the chain that connects them. Tengen then spices up the combo by throwing out Explosive Beads that he then slices up, creating an explosion that can cause significant damage.

Combat Skills and Tactics

By logic, Tengen is one of the most skilled Hashira in the Demon Slayer Crops. His shinobi training in the past made him extremely agile and also quite deadly in melee combat. Unlike normal Shinobi though, Tengen's Superior Strength and Stamina make him a league of his own.

Tactics wise, Tengen is not exactly the most stealthy combatant but he is damn great at avoiding detection from a distance thanks to his Speed and especially his Echolocation, which, again, is a Radar Sense in conjunction with his Sound Breathing.

Overall, Tengen is highly skilled in Espionage, Combat, Utility and of course, a highly skilled Ladies-man. What? The guy has Three Wives XD!!!!

Feats for Tengen Uzui

Despite being a major player in just one arc, and maybe a few other moments in Demon Slayer, Tengen Uzui is still quite amazing.

Here are a couple of feats achieved by the Sound Hashira

  • Has officially, and cleanly, helped Tanjiro, Inosuke, Zenitsu and his three wives defeat Gyutaro and Daki.
  • Killed multiple demons in the past. He would have to since Hashira generally killed demons in the past in order to achieve the rank of Hashira
  • Saved Tanjiro and Nezuko from Daki
  • Rescued Suma, Makio and Hinatasuru, the three divas who are, well, again, Tengen's Wives :D!!!

  • Continued to fight Gyutaro with just one arm....... ONE ARM!!!!!!!!!!

I now want Tengen vs Esdeath in a One Arm Fight!!! XD!!!!

  • Tengen Uzui is my Second Favorite of the Hashira, only Shinobu Kocho I prefer :D!!!!!

  • The Entertainment District Arc is one of the highlights of the Demon Slayer Story. Great tension, amazing action and the goal of rescuing your loved ones is a powerful message :D!!!!

  •  This.......

The Legendary Slap of Infinite Power of Reactions XD!!!!

Weaknesses

Despite his skills and stats, Tengen Uzui is actually not much more superhuman than, well, a Human.

Breathing is key with his fighting style so attacking his lungs and causing bloodloss would be a disastrous result for Tengen, because that means it would be harder to breathe, and even cause death.

Another point to consider is that Tengen, after the Entertainment Arc, really didn't do anything notable anymore since he retired from the job.

Finally, Tengen is prone to making some bad mistakes if the opponent is superior to him in stats. Gyutaro almost killed Tengen if not for Tanjiro's Contribution to the battle. Infact, do not think  that Tengen killed Gyutaro without help, he actually struggled multiple times against Gyutaro and if not for Tanjiro and the help of his Wives, he would have died.

What did Inosuke and Zenitsu do then? Well they actually were busy attacking Daki at the time so they too did help Tengen. If Daki was involved in the fight against Tengen with Gyutaro, Tengen would have been annihilated.

You see the theme here? Tengen needed a huge amount of help to kill the Upper Rank Demon Gyutaro and his sister Daki.

However, Despite his faults, Tengen Uzui is still a legendary combatant. His variety of techniques, added by his explosive power with his Nichirin Cleavers, Tengen is a force to be reckoned with :D.

Wolf    (Spoilers)

Wolf, also known as "Sekiro", is the main protagonist of the video game "Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice"

During the Sengoku Period, an era when Japan was under constant military warfare. The main player of this particular moment is Isshin Ashina, who led an army against General Tamura's Army. Eventually, Ashina managed to defeat Tamura in single combat, effectively winning the war alone.

In the Aftermath of this epic battle, Sekiro, who was a child at the time, was found by the Master Shinobi known as "Owl". Impressed by Sekiro's Fortitude, Owl took him in as his own son and trained him to become a highly skilled Shinobi.

Owl and Sekiro on their first meeting, in the middle of the battlefield

Twenty Years later, Sekiro was ordered by Owl to protect his new master Kuro, who is a child and descendant of a mystical and ancient bloodline known as the "Dragon's Heritage".

Despite being assigned to protect his master, Owl gave Sekiro a message

Your father's rule is Absolute, your Master's is second. If your master has been kidnapped or harmed, you must return and protect him at any cost. Obey the Iron Code.

Sekiro eventually went with Kuro, which ended up being quite a chaotic affair. The Ashina Clan, knowing about Kuro's bloodline, kidnapped Kuro, which prompted Sekiro into rescuing him.

Eventually, a mysterious woman managed to give Sekiro a letter, who was in the pit underneath Ashina Castle (The actual start of the game,) this triggered the events of Sekiro's Journey. Of course, he did rescue Kuro, but ended up getting his arm amputated by Ashina's Grandson. This eventually resulted in Kuro being held at Ashina's Castle, and Sekiro........ was revived by the Sculptor, who not only revived Sekiro, but gave him a Prosthetic Arm.

A Brand New Arm..... Armed with amazing Utility!!!!!!

When Sekiro was fully revived, he met Emma (The woman who sent Sekiro the letter), who is a waifu with medicine and deadly sword skills, and also helped Sekiro with numerous advice to help him achieve his goals.

Sekiro eventually fought numerous enemies, monsters, headless George Hancocks, Genichiro multiple times and of course, has fought Isshin Ashina in the final battle.

Oh yeah, Sekiro did save Kuro :D!!!!! There are reasons however, I wanted to leave this as the last story element, which I will get into later in Sekiro's Information Section.

That is a generalized background of Sekiro's Story, lets see what this legendary, immortal shinobi (That is no typo, Sekiro is immortal)  is capable of

Physical Stats

Sekiro is by far, an absolute monster in terms of stats. Infact, do not think his appearance is human. In fact, Sekiro has made quite a resume that makes him superhuman in numerous ways. Let's look at his Physical Stats

  • Can block and even deflect a 4 ton Raging Bull's Charge. However, the real kick to this feat is that this Bull was charging at full speed, so the amount of force it generated is equal to, or even superior to, a Truck. Sekiro....... CAN DEFLECT THIS AMOUNT OF FORCE!!!!! And not only that, Sekiro's Deflection causes the Bull to be temporarily Stunned. So, it means, it is likely that Sekiro's Deflection can redirect equal amounts of force back to the attacker. That is just legendary.
  • Can block and deflect The Guardian Ape's Attacks. While the Bull may be strong, the Guardian Ape is much stronger in terms of Physical Strikes and has its own grappling throw, which I will mention later.
  • Can block and deflect (At this point, Blocking and Deflecting is the main Defensive Technique for Sekiro right? XD!!!)  other strong enemies and monsters. The Demon of Hatred however would arguably be the absolute strongest monster of Sekiro, due to how big and powerful his attacks are. I mean look at this guy!!!!!

Sekiro and the Demon of Hatred

 Yeah..... That's no joke XD!!!

  • Striking wise, Sekiro can thrust his Kusabimaru against his foes for a death blow. Some of them are armored and Sekiro even thrusts the Katana right into the thickest part of their armor and finish them off.
  • Can swing his Loaded Axe to not only  deliver damage, but also break through Shields, which is an instant stun and breaks through their defenses entirely. Upgraded with specific materials and trained to use a specific technique, Sekiro can swing the Loaded Axe in a spinning motion, which adds even more power behind his attacks.
  • Can open large doors
  • Kicked the Armored Warrior off the Bridge at Senpou Temple, located at Mount Kongo
  • Blocked and Deflected the Chain Ogre's......... Wrestling Moves such as an Elbow Drop, even a Flying Dropkick...... And I thought Godzilla was crazy with the Flying Kick XD!!!

Speed   (The Fun Begins)

  • Can block and deflect (Haha!!!!!) any attack thrown at him with tremendous precision, reflexes and timing. Provided they are not specific attack types like a sweep.
  • Blocked attacks from the Long Arm Centipedes (There are actually two of them, one of them is accompanied by mini Centipedes). These attacks are a combo of flurries that can go at faster than the eye can track speeds.
  • Has blocked a Shichimen Warrior's Terror Beam Blast, which is a literal beam of death.

Sekiro using his Phoenix Lilac Umbrella to block the Beam

Note: The most important thing to remember is that the Beam Blast is not "Light Speed".

Yes it is a concentrated beam, but the properties of the beam are not light, it is literally the essence of spiritual energy. Infact, the beams are not much faster than a speeding bullet. So really, try as you might, at the end of the day, the Beam's are just Faster than Sound.

  • Can Swim at extremely fast speeds. Even dodge Water Cutting Sword strikes from Headless. But one of the coolest feats for Sekiro's Swim Speed, he can outpace "Black Holes" (Not literal black holes but they are able to try and pull you with tremendous pressure) to avoid getting his spine broken......... Badass!!!!
  •  Blocked and deflected Gunfire............. Beyond Bullet timing? How about this!!!!

It's ELECTRIFYING!!!!!!

Oh yes........ Sekiro can catch and redirect Lightning........ Okay, I think we get the idea just how badass he really is :D!!!!!

Durability

  • Survived Impalement. One time was stabbed through the back
  • Managed to survive a Bite from the Great Serpent. Which, well look at this.....

A skyscraper sized Serpent....... Yeah, I am unsure if that is to be underestimated.

  •  Survived multiple punishment such as Sword Strikes, Chained Ogre grapples, and come on, explosions to the face and survive? Unbelievable :D!!!
  • Survived a huge grab and smash from the Guardian Ape and his Wife. (That's no joke, Sekiro did fight two Giant Apes at once)
  • Survived multiple "Targeting the Soul" attacks such as Terror Based attacks from Shichimen Warriors, Headless, Phantom Monkeys and The Corrupted Monk
  • With the Loaded Umbrella, Sekiro is under a near indestructible device that can block, well, anything.
  •  Can survive the Glock Bullets from Isshin Ashina..... Yep, Isshin Ashina used a Glock Pistol in Sengoku Era Japan........ Is Isshin Ashina now a Time Traveler? XD!!!
  • Survived the Divine Dragon's Skysplitting Sword Waves. While impressive at first, the attack isn't as impressive as a Megaton level blast, it was a more concentrated wave strike. Still, surviving these Wave Strikes is amazing regardless since the Divine Dragon is the most powerful entity in the Sekiro Lore........ (As a boss however, it is a cakewalk but I guess lore does help)

An image of the Air Cutter Strike by the Divine Dragon.

Weaponry

Kusabimaru

Kusabimaru is Sekiro's Pride and Joy for combat and believe it or not, is the only main weapon he has used in his entire arc of the Game. While there is one more sword to mention later, Kusabimaru is the Primary Weapon for 99% of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.

Forged from traditional Japanese Materials, this Katana is somehow the most indestructible Katana I've known. It's sheer Durability and Deadly Striking and Cutting Power are just legendary.

The Mortal Blade

The most powerful Katana in the Game and my third favorite sword in all of fiction, The Mortal Blade can "Kill Immortals" Permanently.

Given to Sekiro by one of the most adorable characters of all time, The Divine Child of Rejuvenation, the Mortal Blade became a key weapon into defeating Sekiro's Enemies. The Blade's Properties can remove the Infection from those who are, well, Infected, by large Centipede Creatures (Not mistaken for the previously mentioned Long Arm Centipedes).

It also has it's own Techniques, which I will get into later. But the general idea is that the Mortal Blade is a legendary Katana that is used as a badass finisher :D!!!!

Prosthetic Arm and Tools

So we saw Sekiro's main weapons for combat, now, let's look at this Shinobi's Arsenal :D!!!!

While Sekiro lost his arm to Genichiro Early in the Game, The Scupltor crafted a Prosthetic Arm that gave him one of the most versatile utility based equipment possible. Here is a large list of Devices that Sekiro can use with his Prosthetic Arm.

Loaded Shuriken

Sekiro's First and one of the more iconic Tools, Loaded Shurikens allow Sekiro to throw Shurikens. The trick here is that he is able to upgrade these Shurikens into these types.

  • Spinning Shurikens
  • Phantom Kunai, which can not only throw a Shuriken but also summon butterflies for added damage
  • Gouging Top, which grants the ability to be a circular saw that can break through posture and deal damage.
  • Sen Throw replaces the Shuriken with Money..... I am not kidding XD!!! Though this also helps since it stuns the enemy.
  • Lazulite Shuriken which is the strongest Shuriken Type that also deals posture and physical damage.

Flame Vent

Another Iconic Tool for Sekiro, The Flame Vent is actually not a Flamethrower but more of a Flame Blast Tool that burns enemies to a crisp. It is Extremely effective against Beasts, those who are covered by oil, and those who have "Red Eyes" such as the Chained Ogre and a Samurai who reminds me of George Hancock and Count Dooku with a bad hair cut XD!!!!

It is worth mentioning that when Sekiro charges up the blast, he moves backwards, which is perfect for a hit and run approach. Oh, and, when using a technique, Sekiro can coat his Kusabimaru to use the Fire that was unleashed by the blast for added Damage. Badass!!!!

It can be upgraded into these types.

  • Spring-Load Flame Vent
  • Okinaga's Flame Vent, Identical to the Spring-Load and Traditional Flame Vent but this time, Sekiro can create a brief stream of fire that can cause greater burn to the target.
  • Lazulite Sacred Flame, Identical to all of the above, also can propel Sekiro Backwards, but this time, it can harm Headless and Shichimen Warriors with greater effectiveness.

Loaded Axe

The Loaded Axe is a very powerful tool. While slow in terms of attack speed, once it strikes the target, it packs a punch! It is so powerful, one single strike is capable of breaking shields. Some Shields can take at least 2 strikes before breaking down, but the Axe gets the job done. It is also very effective for making posture damage.

Here are the Upgrades for the Loaded Axe

  • Spring-Loaded Axe
  • Sparking Axe, which gives the Axe Fire Properties, causing Fire damage.
  • Lazulite Axe, this Axe dispels Illusions and also does extra damage to Headless, Shichimen Warriors and the Corrupted Monk.

Firecrackers

By far the most useful and most efficient tool for Sekiro, Firecrackers are used to create a large blast that damages Posture and also helps Sekiro with many opportunities such as Escape and even a killing blow. It is exceptional, if not perfect, against Beasts.

Here are the Upgrades for the Firecrackers

  • Spring-Load Firecracker
  • Purple Fume Firecracker, has a brief pause but when unleashed, it causes large posture damage
  • Long Spark, It can be thrown around Sekiro for a defensive and evasive technique. So all enemies around Sekiro now take Posture Damage and are briefly stunned.

Loaded Spear

The Loaded Spear is used for Thrusting attacks and, once you use the technique, can be used to grapple onto Armor and even pull enemies towards Sekiro.

Here are the Upgrades for the Loaded Spear

  • Loaded Spear Cleave Type, Adds a Cleave motion that is great for attacking multiple enemies infront of Sekiro at once
  • Loaded Spear Thrust Type, Greater posture and phyiscal damage than the traditional Spear. Pull Damage remains the same
  • Spiral Spear, This Spear allows Sekiro to now unleash a Spinning Motion towards his foes, this is essentially a Charge Attack. Oh, and it can be thrusted three times. Adding more Damage.
  • Leaping Flame, Adds Fire Damage and is now superior to the traditional Loaded Spear in terms of damage towards Posture and Physical attacks. Has a Spinning Cleave Motion

Mist Raven

This tool is one of the more supernatural and more magical in Sekiro's Toolset. You see, it allows Sekiro to briefly turn into a flock of Crows and, at any chosen direction, can attack the enemy from the side, behind, even right infront of him. Sekiro can also use the traditional Mist Raven for a Lightning Reversal. While using Mist Raven, Sekiro is briefly invulnerable

Here are the Upgrades for Mist Raven

  • Aged Feather Mist Raven
  • Great Feather Mist Raven, Identical to previous versions but this time, Sekiro leaves behind a trail of fire that burns any enemy passed through.

Loaded Umbrella

By far my personal favorite of Sekiro's Tools, this Umbrella literally puts Mary Poppins and even Parasoul from Skullgirl's Umbrella to shame in terms of sleek design :D!!!

The Loaded Umbrella is by all intents and purposes, Sekiro's Shield against attacks. If you do think you can't deflect or block attacks, you can use the umbrella for superior defense.

Using a technique, Sekiro can redirect damage back and then cause damage and posture damage to his attacker. This can only achieve once the top of the Umbrella has smoke. The Redirected attack is also ranged ;)

Speaking of Defenses, The Upgrades for the Umbrella are as follows.

  • Magnet, This Umbrella is the same, except it now has a mechanism that the moment the enemy attacks, the Umbrella spins it's top, which can cause imbalance and great posture damage to the attack. This is exceptionally effective against Thrust attacks.
  • Phoenix's Lilac Umbrella, Used as Sekiro's Defense against Terror Based Attacks. When used as a redirected attack, the Umbrella now unleashes a Purple Strike that is effective, especially against Headless and Shichimen Warriors.
  • Suzaku's Lotus Umbrella, this version now gives Sekiro "Immunity" to Fire. Yep, I am not kidding, now Sekiro has a Fire Proof Umbrella. Oh, and it can also redirect Damage in the form of Fire.

Sabimaru

Sabimaru is a poisonous blade that is ideal for both Damage and also, can prevent Posture Regeneration. It can be used as a combo for the Kusabimaru.

Upgraded, it becomes even more deadly. Here are the Upgrades

  • Improved Sabimaru
  • Piercing Sabimaru, which deals greater damage and the poison is more potent
  • Lazulite Sabimaru, which leaves a nice mist trail when it strikes, it is especially effective against the Fountainhead Warriors.

Divine Abduction

Divine Abduction isn't much of a weapon, though what it is used for can be quite game changing. It can be ideal for defensive options, such as turning the enemy towards the opposite direction, perfect for a backstab from behind. If Sekiro infuses Kusabimaru with Divine Abduction, he can spin the enemies around with a strike, which is ideal for death blows.

Here are the upgrades for Divine Abduction.

  • Golden Vortex, which is identical to the traditional Tool but this time, the Enemies drop Gold and sometimes, items when hit.
  • Double Divine Abduction, a superior version of the tool but this time, it can potentially teleport foes to another dimension. Though this is more of a choice made by Sekiro.

Note: The Dimensional Feat is actually based on a Quest. Though it is never used as a standard ability for the rest of the game, it is worth taking into account since it means Sekiro can remove his opponent in battle with a "Battlefield Removal Option". However, because of how this was a one time moment, I decided to just mention it, but not include it for the Verdict Section.

Finger Whistle

The George Hancock of Sekiro's Tools, the Finger Whistle is actually, one of the more powerful tools.

Despite it's hilarious look, it does have superb usage in terms of control and battlefield opportunities. When used, it can stun enemies from afar, forcing multiple enemies to suffer agony from the sound effects.

Here are the upgrades for the Finger Whistle.

  • Mountain Echo, which is used effectively against Beasts, who can attack each other and everything else in their vicinity
  • Malcontent...............

Hell yeah!!!! This is what I am talking about. Malcontent deserves it's own segment mainly because, it is ideal against Headless..... But, look at this.

Some Headless Warrior....... Reminds me of George Hancock XD!!!

Ok, so ummm, it has no Head right? It is immune to-

Headless under the effects of Malcontent, and Sekiro is destroying him..........

.................

It's Miranda!!!!

Miranda: Oh, I see Grandmaster left, what seems to be the problem here?

(Miranda looks at the Headless and Malcontent image)

Miranda: Oh I see, well I'll teleport Grandmaster back here and I shall give him a mentality boost.

(Using her Teleportation, Miranda brings Grandmaster back to the Computer Desk)

Miranda: Grandmaster? How are you dear?

(Grandmaster is speechless, he is looking at nothing but, well, nothing)

Miranda: Well, here goes nothing :D

(Miranda gives Grandmaster a permanent Mentality boost, now, he no longer has the urge to be shocked or surprised)

Grandmaster: Ahhhh Miranda, thank you!!!!

Miranda: Your welcome Grandmaster, now, do you want me to finish off the info for Malcontent?

Grandmaster: Go for it please. I lost the urge to do so due to how ridiculous it is.

Miranda: Ok. Now, Malcontent is used against all types of enemies but Headless in Particular are effective. Now, the reason why Grandmaster was surprised was because Headless have no ears, so, how does the effects of Malcontent work on it? Well, I believe the spirits inside and around the Headless are under the effects of Malcontent, which also harms the Headless from the inside as a result. It doesn't damage the Headless though it gives Sekiro a free opportunity to strike them down.

Grandmaster: Malcontent also is effective against the Demon of Hatred, but it can only be used three times before it finally adapts to it's effects.

Miranda: Yes, but at least the Demon of Hatred had Ears. Anyways, I hope that covers everything

Grandmaster: Yep, it sure did, thank you Miranda :D

Miranda: Your welcome Grandmaster :D

Skills and Techniques

Sekiro using Mikiri Counter

Sekiro is not just a Sword Master and a Utility Master, he is also skilled in a multitude of techniques. For the Sake of this blog (It would be another hour worth of reading so here it goes), I decided to just list the Art Styles that Sekiro used and give out a generalized look at what they are. Here are the Art Styles for Sekiro.

Shinobi Arts: Shinobi Arts are the first Skill Tree for Sekiro. Though not as combat efficient as other Arts, what they do add however is add more sleek techniques that are commonly associated with a Shinobi There are a couple of noteworthy Techniques from the Shinobi Arts Tree.

  • Whirlwind Slash which, well, is a Whirlwind Slash. It is great for attacking multiple foes in front of Sekiro.
  • Mikiri Counter: One of the most iconic defensive abilities, Mikiri Counter lets Sekiro Counter Thrust based attacks. This is exceptionally scary against those using a Spear or even any weapon designed to thrust. It also, I kid you not, can be used against Kicks........ Hell yeah :D!!!!
  • Shadow Rush unleashes a long range powerful Thrust

  •  Breath of Life. Probably the single best Art of Sekiro, whenever Sekiro delivers a Death Blow, he regains Health. :D!!!! It can be upgraded for more health regained so that's another bonus.
  • Suppress Sound: Allows Sekiro to sneak and even run around without making noise.

Also, Sekiro can be trained to deflect Attacks while in mid air :D

Prosthetic Arts: The Prosthetic Arts focus on Sekiro's usage of his tools to enhance his combat efficiency.

There is however, one major Art that is ideal for ranged and counter attack. Nightjar Slash, which lets Sekiro attack his foes with a leaping, one handed strike. This is actually ideal against foes who have long arms, who do not have a way to counter a quick strike that goes underneath them.

Sekiro can also be trained to use Prosthetic Tools while in mid air :D

Ashina Arts: A more Combat heavy Skill Tree but this time, it possesses one of the very best Techniques of the game, the Ichimonji Slash.

Ichimonji is just a high Stance Strike, however, the trick here is that it deals Posture damage and also, heals Posture Damage for Sekiro. And if that's not enough, Sekiro can train further to use the "Double Ichimonji Slash", which does the same effects twice. Legendary.

There is also the Ashina Cross, which is literally a sheathe and Strike combo, Great for surprises :D!!!

Temple Arts: Now were are getting Fist of the North Star Vibes. Temple Arts is mainly a hand to hand combat Skill Tree. Despite this, Hand To Hand Combat is great for Posture Damage and even some high flying techniques such as the High Monk cause massive posture Damage and physical damage to back it up. Truly makes Sekiro a martial Artist :D

Ninjutsu Techniques: Well this is kinda obvious since Sekiro is a Shinobi, however, the cool tricks of this amazing skill tree are.

  • Bloodsmoke Ninjutsu, which allows Sekiro to first kill his victim and them produce a large mist of blood that gives him time to escape. This is a blood version of a smoke bomb
  • Puppeteer Ninjutsu, a Technique that literally becomes Legendary. When Sekiro makes a Death Blow, the enemy becomes his ally for a time. However, as powerful as this technique is, it kills Sekiro's Ally after a time limit and also, those who are a boss fight are not harmed by the technique at all. Damn it XD!!!!! Still, this is a beautiful Ninjutsu Technique
  • Bestowal Ninjutsu, Another Death blow based technique but this time, Sekiro coats his victims blood into Kusabimaru, which also extends the reach of his attacks, creating a long ranged option against his foes :D!!!!! Granted its for a limited time but it adds extra damage and reach so the drawback is quite minor.

Mushin Arts

The Ultimate Skill Tree for Sekiro, it has all of the final techniques for the skill trees that are previously mentioned but now, Sekiro has the Mortal Blade techniques that give him scary results. The Mortal Draw literally overpowers any foes that Sekiro faces. But, the Empowered Mortal Draw doubles the amount of damage. Which, well, effectively kills anyone quickly. This skill Tree can only be unlocked if Sekiro has at least one final technique for one of the above Skill trees.

Lightning Reversal

Mentioned before in the Speed Segment, Lightning Reversal allows Sekiro to redirect lightning back towards the enemy. If triggered successfully, Sekiro stuns the opponent, allowing an opportunity to cut them down. That said, if Sekiro doesn't trigger the ability in time and reaches the ground, he will be electrocuted, dealing huge damage to his health.

Items and Consumables

The Gourd

Now, I do not have to talk about every single consumable and Item that Sekiro has used since it would take too much time hahahah, but I will give you the general and most useful items that are relevant for Combat. Here they are!!!!

Gourds: Heal Sekiro with 50% health.

Pellets: Can regenerate Sekiro's Health for a limited time

Ako's Sugar/Spiritfall: Increases Sekiro's Striking Power

Gachiin's Sugar/Spiritfall: Turns Sekiro invisible and gives Sekiro superior stealth such as less enemy alertness and detection is much harder.

Gokan's Sugar/Spiritfall: Grants Sekiro more Posture for a limited time

Ungo's Sugar/Spiritfall: Grants Sekiro 33% Damage Reduction

Yashikriku's Sugar: Provides 50% more damage at the cost of 50% health from Sekiro.

Rice: Is a Jacked up version of Pellets and the effects are 80% more efficient. Regeneration is tripled :D

Sweet Rice Ball: You thought Rice was powerful? The Sweet Rice Ball is the Mother of all Rice!!!! 100% Greater Regener.....

Fine Snow

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bless us with Bountiful Harvest!!!!!

200% Healing Regeneration....... Damn is Rice in Sekiro more powerful than the likes of Wolverine's Healing Factor. That's a Lesson People, Rice gives you amazing healing properties <3!!!!!!

Ceremonial Tanto's: Used to cut Sekiro's Health by 50% in favor of adding a few more Spirit Emblems. Which means.....

Spirit Emblems

Spirit Emblems are the main source of power for Sekiro's usage of his prosthetic tools and techniques. Should Sekiro run out of Spirit Emblems, he cannot use the Tools and Techniques anymore unless he either kills enemies or rests at a Sculptor Idol.

Overall Capabilities for Stealth and Skills for Sekiro

This legendary shinobi is one of the most skilled combatants I've known. It is impressive to think that this guy, despite only being armed with a Katana, can take on literally anything that gets in his way with deadly results.

While amazing in combat, Sekiro is ideal as a Stealthy Assassin, or in traditional terms, a Ninja. His stealth is actually optional in the game but it is just as valuable as combat and it can be more useful than straight up combat when you realized Sekiro literally can trigger a Death blow to a mini boss without being seen, effectively taking away a single health bar before the fight starts.

Sekiro is also known for his Grappling Hook, which is ideal for traversing across cliffsides and rooftops. It is also used to grapple onto enemies from long range, allowing Sekiro to suddenly bring himself towards them and cut them down.

The Grappling Hook

Finally, Sekiro is a master of analyzing his opponents on the fly. He is able to adapt to any situation with intuition, cunning, craftiness and being an absolute badass while doing it!

Feats for Sekiro

Sekiro is one of the most badass character's I've known. The legendary Shinobi Warrior has conquered some of the biggest threats to himself and his own Master. Here are the Feats achieved by the legendary Shinobi

  • Has officially, and cleanly, and canonically, Broke the Iron Code and Served Kuro.
  • Defeated Gyobu Oniwa
  • Defeated Lady Butterfly
  • Defeated Genichiro Ashina not once, Not Twice, Not Three Times but Four Times!!!!
  • Defeated the Folding Screen Monkeys
  • Defeated The Guardian Ape

Wait, what? XD!!!

  • Defeated the Headless Ape Twice, the Second Time was a Divorce Proceeding with his wife..... XD!!!!!

A lovely reunion.... In Death XD!!!

  • Killed the Great Serpent
  • Defeated the Armored Warrior
  • Defeated his Father "Owl"
  • Defeated Emma the Gentle Blade (Non canon)
  • Defeated the Corrupted Monk. The Monk was actually two forms, the Illusion and the True Form but, Sekiro killed her so that's not really necessary XD!!!
  • Defeated the Divine Dragon
  • Freed this guy..........

Great Carp Attendant: He.....llo....... there......

Grandmaster: Hello :D!!!! Welcome to the series :D!!!

Great Carp Attendant: Very....... friend.....ly..... Time..... to...... rest.... now.... In Moderation..... In Moderation

Grandmaster: Hope to see you again :D!!!!

  • Helped Kotaro find friendship
  • Was somehow in a game when a huge Stick monster took him to Fountain Head Palace....... The funniest thing though is that the Giant Monster Died after taking Sekiro there, and there was no reason or no cause of it's death whatsoever XD!!!!!!
  • Defeated the Demon of Hatred
  • Finally, defeated Isshin Ashina in what has to be, the greatest boss fight of all time........
  • With the "Return Ending", Sekiro merged Kuro's Essence with the Divine Child of the Rejuvenating Waters
  • Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is one of my all time favorite video games and a masterpiece
  • As a character, Sekiro is both a badass and quite tragic, but ultimately, super loyal and heroic.

Weaknesses

Despite Sekiro's legendary status as a badass, he does have weaknesses.

Sekiro has Three lives when upgraded, now, why did I not mention this before? Well the issue here is that these lives are inconsistent  in terms of longevity. Yes, they allow Sekiro to be revived once more, but he can only be revived once, unless he triggers a Death blow on the enemy. That being said, sometimes the amount of energy to replenish a single life is inconsistent. Sometimes Sekiro gets a full circle restored but most of the time, he has to kill multiple enemies in order to restore it back, or use Jizo Statues to completely restore them. But, these benefits do not mesh well in a 1v1 fight. You see, at best, Sekiro really needs to be extra careful, or risk losing another life that ultimately, kills him.

Speaking of Death, you might be thinking "Isn't Sekiro Immortal like you mentioned before?" Well, the misconceptions come in. Sekiro can still die in battle and even the game says "Death" when he officially dies. Yes he revives himself overtime, but that is a gameplay mechanic. But let's give Sekiro the benefit of being "Coming Back multiple times as many times as he wishes". Then we go into Dragonrot.

Dragonrot is a mechanic in the game that when Sekiro dies multiple times, certain NPCs will suffer from Dragonrot, which gives them immense pain and a sickness that is life threatening. The huge kick here is that it can halt and delay Quest lines. So Sekiro can only cure this if he has Dragonrot Tears.

While this is a mechanic in the game, it is worth mentioning. It is unlikely its gonna be a factor in a 1v1 random fight.

But another major flaw for Sekiro is his limited weaponry. He has superb Utility but he is only armed with Kusabimaru. That's it. Granted the Mortal Blade helps but that is more of a finisher than a straight up weapon. It can be used with Mortal Draw but it also costs Spirit Emblems to use, which is one of the main weaknesses to mention......

Spirit Emblems are the most important resource for Sekiro if not for his own health and posture. If Sekiro used too much Spirit Emblems, he can use Ceremonial Tanto's to replenish some of them but that also cuts his health in half. Even then, Sekiro can use his tanto's for another 2 times...... That's not very helpful in terms of longevity.

But Health and Posture...... Ooooooooh boy is this the big one. Sekiro is one of the squishiest characters in my Who Would Win Series yet. Only 3 strikes from a Katana are enough to blow away 70% of his health. This is monumental considering it is a regular enemy. Imagine what the bosses can do to Sekiro? Yeah, its just scary.

Posture though is when things get very dire. When Sekiro suffers too much Posture Damage, he will lose balance. He isn't particularly open to a death blow unlike his enemies, but he loses a moment of parry and deflection. Posture is basically a bar that gives Sekiro greater Durability. If overpowered, he will be off balance for a few seconds.

Still, Despite the faults, Sekiro is a Legendary Shinobi and deserves all the praise he gets.

Sekiro, Hesitation is Defeat.........

Summary

Tengen Uzui

Advantages

  • Superior Speed
  • Has much greater tolerance and resilience to pain compared to Sekiro
  • The Nichirin Cleaver's Explosive Properties, combined with the Explosive Beads, give Tengen superior firepower over all of Sekiro's Arsenal
  • Echolocation completely nullifies Sekiro's Stealth, including Suppress Sound
  • In terms of one armed combat, Sekiro passed out. Tengen kept going like a real badass
  • Surprisingly, Gyutaro and Daki alone are more dangerous than most if not all of Sekiro's Rogue Gallery

Disadvantages

  • Not quite as phyiscally Strong
  • Doesn't have three lives, though, there is a counter to that which I will mention later
  • Less utility
  • The Mortal Blade, despite being deadly, and slow, can one shot Tengen. IF!!! It hits him.

Sekiro

Advantages

  • Stronger Physically
  • Three Lives do help, for the most part
  • More Utility and Consumables
  • The Mortal Blade will one shot Tengen, if Sekiro can somehow hit him

Disadvantages

  •  Not as fast as Tengen
  • While resilient, Sekiro is not even close in terms of resilience and tolerance to pain compared to Tengen
  • Nichirin Explosive Properties are just the bane of Sekiro. Posture and Physical Damage, now, they are feeling like 10 Guardian Ape Throws all at once...... It's too much
  • While Sekiro is stealthy, Tengen's Echolocation completely nullifies his Stealth, this is including Gachiin Sugar and Suppress Sound
  • One armed combat wise, Tengen flat out crushes Sekiro.
  • Despite a wide variety of enemies, none of them hold a candle in terms of deadliness compared to Gyutaro and Daki alone.......

The Verdict

In what has to be quite a unique and interesting match up. This is a fight that I originally thought was very close. Unfortunately, while it is still a relatively competitive fight, it turns out, it is one sided but in a more interesting way.

Stats wise, this is a balanced factor for both sides, Sekiro is actually Stronger than Tengen while Tengen is faster. Sekiro has blocked a raging bull's charge which generated the same amount of force by a truck while Tengen has dug a massive hole, but that took more time to achieve. Eventually, Sekiro's Physical Strength simply outmatches Tengen's by a wide margin.

Durability is relatively even though Resilience and Willpower goes to Tengen since this is a guy who got up and kept up against Gyuotaro with One arm while Sekiro passed out when the same situation happened to him when Genichiro amputated his arm early in the game.

Now, this goes into Adventageous Stats. We have Sekiro's Power vs Tengen's Speed and Mobility. This time, Tengen's Speed edges out since Sekiro's attacks are simply too slow compared to what Tengen has witnessed and experienced. You can try and give Sekiro a bit of high balling with his Speed, however, the truth is, all the misconceptions about Sekiro's capabilities do not understand the context of those feats (I played Sekiro Shadows Die Twice 43 times now, I know what the feats are like) so really, Sekiro is just above peak human, in terms of Speed while Tengen is Superhuman in terms of Speed.

Tengen gets the Stats edge.

So we now go into Utility, which Sekiro actually wins this since he has more versatility with Prosthetics. Umbrella is literally indestructible....... until you realize that enough force can still overpower it, then you have Mist Raven, which is handy, though Tengen's spatial awarness counters a back stab so that is countered.......... Yeah, I think at this point, most of Sekiro's options are limited here thanks to Tengen's reflexes and Skills. The Umbrella would just be blown off by Tengen's Explosive Results with the Cleavers and Beads.

But, Three Lives right?

Well, here is the real magic here, we are now basing the argument for Sekiro winning mainly because he has Three lives while Tengen has one............ That.... does not work.

The reason is that Three Lives can easily be expended when the opponent has superior stats and power. This wouldn't be a problem for Sekiro if the opponent was either lesser or equal to his stats. Guess what? Tengen had the Stats edge as mentioned before.

So, it now seems like Tengen has an easy win. What about the Mortal Blade?

Well..... Again, Speed. Sekiro's use of the Mortal Blade, while deadly, and certainly capable of one shotting Tengen, is simply too slow and too much of a delay to pull off for Sekiro to use as a proper advantage. Tengen is not stupid enough to simply stand there and take the hit. After all, the Guy's speed is so good he literally "teleports".

There are other factors to consider such as Techniques and all, but Tengen's Explosive Firepower combined with the Explosive Beads and superior Speed and reflexes are simply too much for Sekiro to handle, which is why, Tengen Uzui gets the win.

Thanks to his Speed, Sound Breathing, Counters to all of Sekiro's capabilities, Echolocation to counter Sekiro's Stealth, Explosive Weaponry and his three wives, I believe that Tengen Uzui is going to present a Shinobi Execution.

The Winner is Tengen Uzui
